John Mayer celebrates one year of no alcohol

John Mayer announced Tuesday that he reached the milestone of 365 days of no alcohol to his combined 10.1M social media following.

‘One year ago today, I decided to give drinking a break. A very personal thing for everyone. For me, a constant return on investment,’ the 40-year-old bluesman – who’s in therapy – wrote.

‘I post this because I want people to know that “that’s enough for now” is on the menu, so to speak.’

This, after the seven-time Grammy winner admitted to Rolling Stone that he quit by putting ‘marijuana where drinking used to go’ and his ‘quality of life [went] up considerably.’

‘Drinking is a f***ing con. How much is enough? Every time I drank, I was looking for some sort of regulated amount. It always feels wrong for me. I always feel like I went overboard. “I said two, now it’s three, now we’re at four?”‘ John explained to the mag back in June.

‘I never had a serious issue with it, but I remember looking around going, “This feels rigged. I’m taking a break. There’s never an amount that felt like I was succeeding at life. It always felt wrong.”‘

During his 40th birthday bash in Rio, Mayer showed off the diamond-encrusted chain of weed and white Russian-guzzling icon – The Dude from Big Lebowski – which serves as his armor against ‘anxiety and worry.’
