Victims of ‘black cab rapist’ John Worboys could crowdfund to ensure they get their day in court, as eight women prepare to formally demand their cases against him be re-opened.
The former stripper, 60, was jailed in 2009 for 19 sex offences, including rape, with many believing he would die behind bars.
But there has been outrage after it emerged he could walk free in a matter of weeks.
Following the news of his release victims whose cases were not pursued by police say they are ‘not afraid to take things into their own hands’.
Eight other women are also demanding the Crown Prosecution Service re-examine their cases in a bid to see him back in jail.
One victim who did not see justice told The Sun: ‘It’s disgusting. Myself and other women who suffered at his hands want our day in court.’
Another source added: ‘The victims are not afraid to take matters into their own hands.
‘Whether that is a private prosecution, which could easily be crowdfunded, is one possibility being discussed.’

The taxi driver would pick his victims up in his London cab, giving them spiked champagne after claiming he had won the lottery.
A total of 102 women accused Worboys of sex attacks and police suspected him of claiming more than 500 victims.
During the police investigation in 2008, files relating to 83 women were referred to the CPS, but they only took 14 cases forward as the others ‘did not pass the evidential test’.
Yet 26 women picked out Worboys as their attacker to police.

Richard Scorer, a specialist abuse lawyer who represents 11 of Worboys’ victims, said a formal request will be made to police and the Crown Prosecution Service to look at the evidence against him.
Some of the women whose cases were dropped were told that there was ‘no point’ putting him on trial a second time as it was thought Worboys would never be released having been given an indeterminate sentence for public protection in 2009.
Mr Scorer from Slater Gordon (MUST) said: ‘On Monday, we will be speaking to the police and prosecutors to re-open their cases.
‘Police need to go back and re-examine all the evidence and there is no reason why those cases cannot be put before the CPS again.’
The development comes as an ex-girlfriend of the predator pledged to go to police to put him back in jail.
Jan Reynolds, 66, said Worboys drugged and raped her in 1989, but she was too frightened to report him at the time.
The retired GP’s surgery worker said Worboys spiked her wine at his home in Cheshunt, Herts, then woke her in the morning with a chilling grin, smirking: ‘I think you had a little too much to drink.’
Now married, she said: ‘I knew I’d been raped. You didn’t hear of date rape in 1989. I grabbed my belongings and ran for a bus. I never saw him again. I suffered in silence for years.’
Yesterday she told the Sunday People: ‘I’ll go to police if it means that vile rapist goes back to jail.’
