John Worboys was ‘helped in parole bid by Levi Bellfield’

Black cab rapist John Worboys became ‘best pals’ with serial killer Levi Bellfield — who helped him on his legal bid for parole.

Worboys and Bellfield became friends when they were both held inside Wakefield prison.

It was also revealed that the black cab rapist was an anti-bullying representative and choirboy behind bars.

Bellfield, 49, is serving two whole life prison sentences for murdering two women and schoolgirl Milly Dowler, 13.

The serial killer became Worboys’ ‘McKenzie Friend’ — a person on hand to constantly help legal bids and provide advice.

And the pair remained in touch even when Bellfield was moved to HMP Frankland, County Durham.

Worboys, who was jailed for 19 sec attacks in 2009 with an ‘indeterminate’ sentence,  would write to Bellfield after he moved to the prison in 2013.

‘John was close to Bellfield and was upset when he moved. They were always in each other’s cells and having coffees and meals together,’ a source told The Sun.

Worboys – who is due for release after a Parole Board ruling – told other pals of the close relationship he shared with Bellfield.

The black cab rapist is also understood to refer to Bellfield by his Muslim convert name, Yusuf.

Worboys, 60, also placed cricket for his prison wing and enjoyed singing in the jail choir.

But he was furious after being forced to give up his anti-bullying job, after becoming a ‘listener’ in 2016.

He told a friend: ‘I couldn’t be an anti-bullying rep, which is annoying, as it could be a conflict of interest.’

Worboys was expected to have been freed yesterday but his release was delayed by the Ministry of Justice due to anger over the case.
