Johnny Ruffo shares a positive mantra amid cancer battle

He was rushed to hospital to undergo life-saving brain surgery five months ago. 

But Johnny Ruffo, 29, was all smiles when he shared an update on his positive approach to the recovery process on social media this week. 

Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, the former Home And Away star uploaded a photo of himself looking cheery while posing in a dapper blazer and Tommy Hilfiger  T-shirt.

‘Positive thinking can change your entire outlook on life, even through the most difficult of times  stay positive and keep moving forward,’ he wrote in the caption. 

The post sparked an avalanche of well-wishes from fans, with some remarking on how well he looked considering his recent cancer diagnosis. 

‘You are looking terrific!’ gushed one fan, while another added: ‘You’re such an inspiration!’

‘So I have the news. It was a bit of a shock and I’ve got an interesting journey ahead and a bit of a battle. I am starting aggressive treatment for the next few months to fight the diagnosis of brain cancer. Please stay positive for me and ill try to update you guys on my progress,’ he wrote online at the time.

He finished his radiotherapy treatment at Chris O’Brien’s Life House in October, but admitted at the time he still had a long road ahead.

In December, Johnny uploaded a comparison photo to reveal how time had healed his scars.

‘What a huge difference, now i just need my hair back,’ he wrote next to the image of his almost invisible scar.
