Jonathan Ross’ daughter Honey, 23, slams Instagram for being ‘fatphobic’

Jonathan Ross’ daughter Honey has accused picture messaging site Instagram of being ‘fatphobic’ after it removed an image of the 23-year old in a bikini.

The hugely popular social media platform took action earlier this month after deeming the seemingly inoffensive snap to be in breach of its community guidelines.

Instagram are obliged to remove images from the site if they promote nudity or sexual activity, hate speeches, racism, harassment, bullying or graphic violence.

Addressing Instagram shortly after the removal her image, which appeared to be taken while she was swimming, Honey accused the platform of targeting her because of her plus-size weight.

Captioning the site’s clarification regarding community guidelines, she wrote: @instagram why don’t you just say you hate fat bodies?’

A removal date shared by the site revealed the image had been deleted on August 15th, 12 days before Honey’s response. The image is no longer available to view.

Appearing on Tuesday’s Loose Women, the writer and activist said she had ‘hated her body’ and that her parents Jonathan and Jane Goldman ‘tried to give her solutions to her problem’ which was to ‘lose weight.’

In the wake of her TV appearance, Honey took to Instagram to encourage others on their journey of ‘self-love and self-acceptance’, and took a swipe at online trolls sending her abusive DMs, writing sarcastically ‘they want to f*** me’.

She wrote:’I’m not even joking, someone in my comments saying I’m going to die of heart disease is in my DMs asking me out. You couldn’t write it.

‘For the overwhelmingly lovely DMs I’ve received – thank you so much and I wish you all the most beautiful journey of self love and self acceptance. Let today be the day you start being kind to yourself and your body.’

She continued: ‘Truly there’s only a handful of people being outwardly fatphobic.

‘And it really does not affect me in any meaningful or long lasting way – more like a momentary annoyance and an anger that what they’ve said would really hurt someone with less of a hardened shell than I have.

‘Their choice to harass fat people says more about them than it does about me, a wholesome fat woman merely existing happily.’

The star finished with: ‘Also TBH, I know it’s because they wanna f*** me and are angry that’s never gonna happen.’

This comes one day after Honey spoke about her struggle to have a positive body image on Loose Women, and revealed her parents suggested ‘toxic’ diets  for her to try.

Honey said: ‘From a young age, I felt I didn’t have any control over my image.

‘I felt I didn’t have a place to carve out my own identity. I found Instagram and I was like, I can express myself and show people who I really am.

‘It was a way for me to figure myself out better. I have parents who were raised in the same society as all of us.’

Honey continued: ‘They saw me, a teenage girl coming home saying, I hate my body.

She said: 'My advice to parents is keep that as far away from your children as possible, if you want them to have a good relationship with food and their bodies growing up do not shame them' (Jonathan and Jane pictured in 2017)

Honey was later asked by the panel if she felt there was nothing wrong with using the word fat, to which she said: ‘It’s a descriptor. You would call someone thin.’

Jane accessorised with a hot pink pendant and watch that complemented her eye-popping fuchsia tresses which she styled in a natural beachy wave.

The English rose opted for a natural makeup look that highlighted her delicate features as she posed for the snap.

Jane is a woman of many talents as she works as a screenwriter, author and producer.

She has co-written screenplays for the Kingsman: The Secret Service, and X Men: First Class, and she accomplished her first solo screen play with the 2012 film, The Woman In Black.

Jane met her husband-to-be when she was 16-years-old at an event when she was a budding showbiz journalist and they married two years later.

Jonathan-who is almost ten years her senior-was at the beginning stage of his talk-show hosting career and struck up conversation with the young journalist.

She told The Times: ‘I met Jonathan at some sort of promotional event.

‘He’d just started his show The Last Resort. He’d only been doing it for two weeks, I think.’

The pair share three children together, Betty, 29, Harvey, 29, and Honey, 23, who is apparently very curious about the details of their first encounter.

Jane added: ‘I can’t remember what we talked about. I wish I could. Honey’s always asking me that, but I really can’t remember.

‘I think I invited him to some other thing, hoping to see him again. Maybe I was less socially awkward back then.’

Despite not remembering their initial conversation, Jane recalled that the couple connected through their love of American pop culture, science-fiction and horror films.

For Jonathan, there is only one leading lady in his life and that will never change.

He said: ‘Jane’s my ideal, whatever way she is. We’ve grown up together and I become more passionate about her as the years go by.

‘For me, it’s only ever been Jane and it only ever will be.’
