Jordan North is forced to apologise after blundering DJ drops a swear word

‘I meant to say sheets!’ Jordan North is forced to apologise after blundering DJ drops a swear word while debating the nation’s favourite bedding with Vick Hope during Radio 1 show

Jordan North apologised to BBC Radio 1 listeners on Wednesday after swearing while presenting his popular afternoon show, which goes out live.

The affable presenter joined Vick Hope as co-host of the station’s new Drivetime show in 2021, three years after originally signing on to front their Sunday morning Greatest Hits.

But he was left red-faced after mangling his words while reading an otherwise straightforward message about the general public’s preferred choice of bedding, sent in by one his listeners.

Commenting on the message, North, 32, said: ‘For me, it’s fitted s**ts,’ before quickly acknowledging the on-air gaffe.

Attempting to atone with a hasty apology, he added: ‘Oh god, sorry, sorry , I apologise, I am so sorry. I meant to say sheets.’

Co-host Hope, 33, managed to see the funny side and could be heard chuckling in the background, before offering her own opinion on fitted sheets.

‘They are really annoying,’ she joked.

Four years later was announced as the new host for the station’s Greatest Hits show on Sunday mornings and in 2020 became the new regular 11am-1pm weekend host on BBC Radio 1.

He was also the main cover presented for Nick Grimshaw and Scott Mills before moving to Drivetime following the departure of Grimshaw in September 2021.

Speaking of his Drivetime slot at the time, he said: ‘I am absolutely chuffed to be making the move over to Radio 1 daytime and even happier to be working alongside Vick.

‘Grimmy is a Radio 1 legend so we definitely have big shoes to fill but will work extremely hard to make sure afternoons on Radio 1 still sound superb.

‘I am super excited to get started and look forward to this next chapter with Vick and the rest of my Radio 1 family.’
