Jorginho ‘wants to stay at Chelsea despite interest from Juventus’

Jorginho ‘wants to stay at Chelsea despite interest from Juventus’ as the Italian midfielder’s agent ‘reveals talks over his future will start in September’ with just one year left on his contract

  • Chelsea midfielder Jorginho  has just year one remaining on his current contract
  • He has been linked with a return to Serie A with Juventus among those keen
  • The player’s agent though says he wishes to stay at Stamford Bridge next season

The agent of Chelsea midfielder Jorginho has reportedly revealed that his ‘priority’ is to stay at Stamford Bridge.

Jorginho has just one year left on his current contract and has been linked with a return to Serie A this summer, with Juventus among the sides interested in the Italian Euro 2020 winner.

His agent Joao Santos though has stated his client wishes to sign a new contract with the club.

Jorginho reportedly hopes to put pen to paper on a new contract to stay at Chelsea

‘Chelsea are the priority,’ Santos told Italian publication Tuttomercatoweb.

‘His contract will expire in 2023, I think we will talk about the renewal from September.’

His comments come after previously telling the same publication in March that there are ‘four or five’ Serie A clubs he could play for.

Santos said at the time: ‘Playing in Serie A is a dream for him and his heart remains here.

‘As things stand today, he could play for four or five clubs: Milan, Inter, Juve, Roma or Napoli.’

Santos though did say that they would begin work with Chelsea on a renewal after the World Cup.

Chelsea will be keen to sort out his situation and avoid a repeat of losing Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen both on a free at the end of their contracts this summer.

Rudiger has signed for Real Madrid, while Christensen is joining their El Clasico rivals Barcelona.

Jorginho joined Chelsea for £50million in 2018, and has gone on to make 188 appearances for the club, scoring 26 goals.

His role in helping the Blues lift the Champions League last year, as well as the European Championships with Italy, led to him finishing third in the last Ballon d’Or rankings behind Lionel Messi and Robert Lewandowski.

The 2021-22 season was more frustrating however, with his most disappointing moment coming with Italy’s failure to qualify for the World Cup in Qatar later this year.
