Jose Mourinho has finally revealed what he whispered into Pep Guardiola’s ear during that famous Champions League game ten years ago.

Mourinho’s Inter Milan were taking on Guardiola’s Barcelona in the semi-final of the Champions League and in the second leg the Portuguese coach famously said something to his rival.

The Italian side had won the first leg 3-1 at the San Siro thanks to goals from Wesley Sneijder, Maicon and Diego Milito after Pedro had given Barca the lead early on.

But early on in the second leg Mourinho’s team were reduced to ten men when Thiago Motta was sent off.

The midfielder’s arm appeared to brush the face of Sergio Busquets who fell to the ground dramatically.

The sending off appeared harsh to the majority of supporters watching and gave Inter an uphill battle.

Mourinho saw his opposite bench ‘celebrating’ the decision as Guardiola called over striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic to give out instructions.

He told Gazzetta Dello Sport: ‘When Sergio Busquets fell almost knocked out, I was diagonally between our bench, his [Guardiola’s] and the place where Motta was sent off.

‘Out of the corner of my eye I saw the Barcelona bench celebrating it as if Guardiola had already won calling Ibrahimovic to give instructions.’

This is where Mourinho’s infamous whisper comes in. He walked up behind Guardiola and said: ‘Don’t throw the party, the game is not over.’

The Italians held out until the 84th minute when Gerard Pique scored to give the LaLiga side hope of a late comeback.

But the goal was not enough and it was Mourinho’s team who progressed to the final as the manager went wild at the full-time whistle.

The manager has previously described the game as his ‘most beautiful defeat’. Inter went on to beat Bayern Munich 2-0 in the final to complete a historic treble success before Mourinho left to join Real Madrid in the summer.
