Joyful moment teen finds out she got accepted to Harvard

A trio of sisters who immigrated to the United States a decade ago were stunned after learning the youngest of the bunch completed the family’s Ivy League sweep.

Excited high school senior, Xaviera Zime, of the Bronx, found out she had been accepted into Harvard University Tuesday while at school.

Supportive family members and classmates at Democracy Prep Charter can be seen alongside Xaviera, shouting and jumping for joy in a video shared to YouTube by a member of the school.

Xaviera’s older sister, Chris, said of the news: ‘I was so excited. I was the one who lifted her up from the chair and almost boy slammed her,’ she told NBC New York.

The teen follows the footsteps of her sisters her two older sisters, Chris and Ella, were also previously accepted into Ivy League schools

‘It still hasn’t processed,’ Xaviera added with a smile.

It seems her two sisters, Chris and Ella, were also previously accepted into Ivy League schools.

Two years ago, Chris learned she would be fulfilling her education at Dartmouth College and just last year, Ella, at Yale University.

The family, originally from Cameroon, quickly learned the English language within a period of six months after they moved to America ten years ago.

‘We started learning English, going to the library, reading books and using dictionaries,’ the high school senior said.

The bright, tight-knit family credits Democracy Prep and their loving parents for their success.

They have made their education a top priority, ‘even during tough times,’ they said.

‘I think that’s what motivated us to keep working and striving to work hard because it’s easy to get discouraged,’ Chris added.

Democracy Prep’s school mission statement is: ‘Work Hard. Go to College. Change the World!’
