Juan Mata could make return to Valencia from Manchester United

Juan Mata ‘could seal emotional return to Valencia from Manchester United’… but only if he leaves Old Trafford on a free transfer next summer

Juan Mata may be in line for a sensational return to former club Valencia once his contract expires at Manchester United next summer.

The Spaniard spent four years at the La Liga side, where he made more than 125 La Liga appearances, before leaving for the Premier League and Chelsea in 2011.

Mata’s current deal at Old Trafford is set to run out at the end of the current campaign and, according to The Sun, Los Che are keen on a deal to bring him back to the Mestalla.

Reports suggest Valencia would only be keen to bring him in on a free transfer because of his £130,000-a-week wage demands.

An inside told The Sun: ‘It is well known Juan is wanted by Valencia. There is a strong connection between the two.

‘His deal is up next summer and it looks likely he’ll leave unless something changes soon.

‘We know Juan’s motives are not related to money and there’s a very strong emotional attachment to take into account.’
