‘This little girl showed us all what’s possible’: Judge Melissa Leong congratulates Junior MasterChef Australia winner Georgia, 11, in moving post comparing her to Kamala Harris

On Monday night’s episode of Junior MasterChef Australia, young cook Georgia, 11, was crowned the winner. 

The tween walks away with $25,000 prize money after beating runners up Filo, 12, and Cater, 12. 

She said after winning: ‘I’m so surprised. From the beginning my goal was just to make it past the first week. To win this competition was such a surprise.’

The 11-year-old won after cooking up a trio of curries and a ‘Tropical Mess’ dessert that impressed the judges. 

She not only faced judges Melissa Leong, Jock Zonfrillo and Andy Allen, but their own mothers, who appeared as guest judges. 

Runners up Filo and Carter didn’t go home empty handed, with the young chefs winning $5,000 each.

After the grand finale, judge Melissa Leong shared a moving Instagram post, congratulating Georgia.   

Melissa even compared her win to the historical election of American Vice President Elect Kamala Harris. 

She wrote: ‘In the same week that the incredible @kamalaharris said of her rise to VP elect, ‘Every little girl that’s watching tonight sees that this is a country of possibilities’…
