After the last of the team meetings take place, Klopp will then lead his men back to the ground for the real business of the day.

Jordan Henderson and Simon Mignolet were among those who cut serious figures on a chilly morning, no doubt already thinking about the task ahead.

Liverpool trail the Blues by three points in the league and will look to continue their fine form in domestic competition whilst consigning the mid-week collapse against Sevilla to the past.

Former Chelsea man Mohamed Salah will be a key man Antonio Conte’s side will keep an eye on with the Egyptian enjoying a brilliant first season on Merseyside.

Salah tops the scoring charts with nine goals in domestic competition and would surely love to prove a point after being considered surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge.

The £34m man has proved to be one of the signings of the summer having joined from Roma, and Klopp is delighted with how things have panned out.

He said: ‘He was young at Chelsea, players develop at this age, especially if you can use them often. I don’t know with Mo.

‘I didn’t see him playing at Chelsea. I saw him at Basle then he went off my radar. Then I saw him again at Fiorentina.

‘I didn’t see his few games at Chelsea, it was 19 or something I read. That’s usually not a bad number for a very young player in their first year at Chelsea, but he wanted to play more.

‘I don’t know anything about why he left. I was not interested. It was just the situation. If he had played better at Chelsea, we would not have him, so I’m happy.’
