A Sydney jury has begun deliberating at the weapons trial of the girlfriend of former Kings Cross nightclub owner John Ibrahim.

But her 51-year-old boyfriend said he knew how the gun got there but refused to tell her any more.

Her lawyers have suggested the gun and magazine were hidden in her bedroom wardrobe by Mr Ibrahim or one of his associates.

The NSW District Court jury retired on Friday after Judge David Arnott completed his summing up and directions following the two-week trial.

The jury previously heard details of personal text messages exchanged between Ms Budge and Ibrahim.
