Justin Hemmes swarmed by ‘single and taken women’ at event, despite arriving with ‘mystery brunette’

Merivale millionaire Justin Hemmes announced his split with Kate Fowler in July.

And according to sources in attendance at a Hamilton Island Race Week event, the man once described as a ‘playboy’ was tempted with a return to the lifestyle.

The Sunday Telegraph claims Justin, 45, arrived at the James Boag dinner with a ‘mystery brunette’, whose presence didn’t stop ‘single and taken’ women ‘throwing themselves’ at him.

The publication claims to have had ‘spies’ at the event, who they say witnessed multiple ladies having a crack at the father-of-two and/or his $950 million fortune.

It’s unclear if his alleged ‘mystery female guest’ witnessed any of the feeble courting attempts, or if the site was linking her with Justin romantically.

Daily Mail Australia has reached out to Justin for comment.

The news follows reports claiming Justin was never the ‘marrying’ type, leading to issues with his model ex.

Justin and Kate, 28, had been in a relationship for four years and share two daughters, Alexa, two, and Saachi, one.

One friend reportedly told The Telegraph Kate is ‘a thoroughly modern woman’ and while she ‘didn’t need a wedding ring on her finger at this time’, she may have been hoping for one in the future.

Justin confirmed their split in late July, telling The Sydney Morning Herald they now share a ‘platonic’ relationship and are still living together at his ‘$90 million’ Vaucluse mansion in Sydney.

THE LIFE AND TIMES OF THE HEMMES FAMILY

Justin Hemmes is the only son of Merivale Group founder and nightclub mogul John Hemmes.

Hemmes Snr left the Netherlands following World War II with $20 in his pocket and started a new life in New Zealand.

He then moved to Australia where he met his wife Merivale and built a fashion brand in her name. The pair had two children, Justin and a daughter, Bettina.

‘I grew up in a very exciting life. My parents got so much pleasure out of the smallest things,’ Justin told Harper’s Bazaar Australia.

‘They also had a group of really interesting friends. Wherever we went, whatever we did, it was always exciting, colourful and larger than life.’

Hemmes Snr grew Merivale into a portfolio of more than 50 restaurants, bars, pubs and hotels in Sydney.

When he died in 2015, Justin took over the hospitality giant.

He has since changed Sydney’s social scene more than any other businessman or woman.

‘Kate and I have the utmost love and respect for each other,’ he told the publication.

‘At the beginning of 2018, Kate and I decided our friendship and respect for family life would become the focus of our relationship. We love our children dearly and for now continue to live together happily in our family home.’

‘Kate is a wonderful, wonderful, wonderful woman. As for what the future holds I am not sure,’ he added.
