Brett Kavanaugh is now facing calls for impeachment following a fresh allegation of sexual misconduct merged this weekend.
Senator Kamala Harris, who is one of the 20 Democrats running for president in 2020, tweeted Sunday morning that Kavanaugh, the most recently appointed Supreme Court Justice, ‘must be impeached.’
‘I sat through those hearings,’ the California senator tweeted. ‘Brett Kavanaugh lied to the U.S. Senate and most importantly to the American people. He was put on the Court through a sham process and his place on the Court is an insult to the pursuit of truth and justice. He must be impeached.’
The insistence comes after almost two-and-a-half years of Democrats demanding impeachment proceedings begin against the president.

Senator Amy Klobuchar, who is also running for president, made it clear she isn’t a fan of Kavanaugh, but didn’t specifically say she agreed with impeaching him
When asked about thought on impeachment, fellow senator and 2020 candidate Amy Klobuchar didn’t explicitly say she agreed with that approach, but did voice her concerns with the justice in general.
‘My views on Justice Kavanaugh are very clear,’ Klobuchar told ABC’s This Week on Sunday.
She brought up her questioning of Kavanaugh last year as part of the Judiciary Committee where she asked Kavanaugh if he had ever drank so much he didn’t remember what happened the next day.
‘You’re asking about – you know – blackout. I don’t know. Have you?’ he shot back, saying he was curious of the senator had ever drank so much she couldn’t remember the happenings of the night prior.
‘I have no drinking problem, judge,’ Klobuchar said, and he responded, ‘Nor do I.’
After receiving backlash for the exchange, Kavanaugh apologized and expressed his respect for the senator from Minnesota.
‘I think most people remember my questioning of the Justice when he went so far as to ask me if I blacked out and had to apologize to me,’ Klobuchard recounted Sunday. ‘I strongly opposed him due to his views on Executive power, which will continue to haunt our country. As well as how he behaved, including the allegations that we are hearing more about today. ‘
A New York Times article published Saturday detailed an account by Kavanaugh’s Yale classmate, where he claimed he saw then-college freshman Kavanaugh with his pants down and penis in a female classmate’s hand.
Max Stier says he saw Kavanaugh’s male classmates pull down his pants and force his penis into a female student’s hand during a dorm party in the 1980s. The Times says Stier told senators and the FBI about the incident, but it was not investigated.
The new claims reups allegations that circulated during his confirmation process where a few women said he sexually assaulted them when he was a teenager and in his early-20s.

Republican Senator Ted Cruz defended Kavanaugh, claiming the calls for impeachment are a continuation of the ‘circus’ surrounding his nomination and confirmation process last year
Julian Castor, another Democratic candidate for president, also weighed in on the new details, and called for an investigation.
‘Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation is a shame to the Supreme Court. This latest allegation of assault must be investigated,’ the former Housing and Urban Development secretary tweeted.
Donald Trump came to Kavanaugh’s defense Sunday morning, and lamented that the allegations were a ‘lie’ meant to ‘influence his opinions’ and ‘scare him into turning liberal.’
‘Now the Radical Left Democrats and their Partner, the LameStream Media, are after Brett Kavanaugh again, talking loudly of their favorite word, impeachment,’ he tweeted. ‘He is an innocent man who has been treated HORRIBLY. Such lies about him. They want to scare him into turning Liberal!’
The president also claimed the Department of Justice should step in and ‘rescue’ Kavanaugh.
‘Brett Kavanaugh should start suing people for libel, or the Justice Department should come to his rescue,’ he posted in another tweet Sunday. ‘The lies being told about him are unbelievable. False Accusations without recrimination. When does it stop? They are trying to influence his opinions. Can’t let that happen!’
Castro pushed back, insisting that the DOJ isn’t the president’s or Kavanaugh’s personal law firm.
‘The Department of Justice isn’t your law firm, or Brett Kavanaugh’s. Even if Bill Barr acts like your lawyer,’ the 2020 candidate tweeted.
Texas Senator Ted Cruz, who voted to confirm Kavanaugh last October, said the suggestion to impeach the justice is part of the continuing ‘circus’ that consumed his nomination process.
‘I think that follows up with the rather shameful circus we saw during the confirmation hearing,’ Cruz told ABC Sunday. ‘It really is another sign of how nasty and divided the time is.’

The only Supreme Court Justice to ever be impeached in U.S. history was Samuel Chase in 1805. The articles of impeachment were filed against him in the House but he was acquitted by the Senate.The House impeached him on grounds of letting his partisan leanings affect his court decisions, but ultimately remained in office.
After Kavanaugh was nominated by Trump in June 2018 to take a vacant seat on the Supreme Court, a handful of accusations spanning back decades surfaced.
Deborah Ramirez claimed Kavanaugh exposed himself to her during a dorm party at Yale, where they were both students, and forced her to touch him.
Most notably, however, was Christine Blasey Ford, who alleged Kavanaugh held her down on a bed at high school party when she was 15 and tried to remove her clothing, putting his hand over her mouth to stop her screaming.
She testified before the House Judiciary Committee as part of a probe into the allegations ahead of the confirmation vote.
He was ultimately confirmed and seemed to be in the clear and avoid any controversy, until the latest accusations emerged.
