Two kangaroos have been filmed in a violent brawl in the backyard of a home over the Christmas break.

Liz Manson was visiting her daughter in Scenic Rim, south of Brisbane, when she woke to see the two native Australian animals boxing outside.

Ms Mason captured the tussle on camera, showing the kangaroos trading several punches.

After sparring for a few moments, one of the roos hit his opponent so hard he fell onto an outdoor table where he was pinned down.

A short wrestle then ensued, before the fallen kangaroo got himself up off the ground.

Punches continued before one of the roos slammed the other into a gate.

Eventually both animals called time on their fight, and were seen hopping away together into the distance.

Social media users were amused by the footage, with one man even comparing the animals to ‘two girls slapping and pulling each other’s hair outside the pub’.

Kangaroos are known to engage in boxing due to their strong tail, excellent sense of balance and developed upper body.

Males engage in this type of boxing as a way of determining who ‘wins’ a particular female as a mate.

They will also lock arms at points and wrestle back-and-forth while balancing on their tails.
