A photo of Borce Ristevski was sent showing him with a sunburnt nose, and Mrs Ristevski said the pair were enjoying their time together.

The final correspondence between Mrs Ristevski and the friend is a message sent on June 30, begging her to get in touch after she disappeared.

‘Hi Karen if you get this please come back everyone’s worried about you,’ the text reads.

The family friend said claims she was having an affair with her ice-addicted stepson Anthony Rickard were untrue, and the Ristevskis’ marriage was ‘great’.

‘They were obviously in love. It was the picture-perfect family, even my own parents admired their family.’

They said police pressured Sarah to turn on her father as they believed he was guilty.

‘Their houses, cars and phones were and maybe still are bugged, I’m sure,’ the friend said.

‘I think they just got sick of it because what first was questioning turned into abuse.’

Victoria Police refused to comment on the allegations.
