Karen Webb is due to become the first female Police Commissioner in the history of New South Wales and inherit a staggering $665,750 salary.

Commissioner Fuller announced he would be resigning from the role in July of this year, noting the job required ‘enormous energy’.

Minister for Police David Elliott said he had never seen a ‘man sadder’ to leave the police force as Mick Fuller and paid tribute to his five-year tenure.

Deputy Commissioner Webb joined the police force in 1987 and began her career at Castle Hill Police Station.

From Castle Hill, she rose through the ranks at the then-Child Mistreatment Unit, the Drug Enforcement Agency, as well as Lismore and Western Sydney commands.

Webb was promoted to Assistant Commissioner and Police Traffic and Highway Patrol Commander in July before she scored the role as NSW’s top cop.

More to come.
