Karl Stefanovic, 44, has been struck down with pneumonia.

The Today show co-host stepped out in Sydney on Tuesday after he was absent from the morning show due to his battle with the inflammatory condition, according to The Daily Telegraph. 

The Channel Nine host was spotted picking up prescription medicine from a local chemist in Sydney’s Cremorne on Tuesday.

Dressed in blue jeans, a grey hoodie, espadrilles and a white cap, the casually-dressed TV host looked under the weather while reportedly clutching antibiotics.

He is believed to have underwent a chest X-ray, which led to his diagnosis.

Pneumonia is a lung infection caused by viruses, bacteria or microorganisms and in some cases it can be deadly.

Karl has spent the last few weeks travelling around Australia for work, while covering the drought crisis and the Liberal leadership spill in Canberra. 

Last week, he flew to Canberra, where temperatures continue to drop below one degrees.

The TV host looked visibly cold during a live cross from outside parliament house, while interviewing outgoing Foreign Minister Julie Bishop.

Days prior, he was in regional New South Wales raising money for drought-stricken farmers through The Today Show’s Farm Aid Telethon, in the Dubbo Showground. 

Karl’s fiancée is said to be in Brisbane visiting her grandmother, who recently broke her hip during a fall.
