After Jackie asked whether he would be making a comeback to morning television, Karl shut down the rumours.

‘There is no chance. Even if I had high level talks I’d tell you but I haven’t,’ he told the radio hosts.

‘I’ve just been busy doing other things…No one has asked me to go back to the Today show,’ he added.

He said he has also been enjoying his new schedule, being able to sleep in, and filming new programs.

‘I’ve been doing a bit of 60 Minutes and This Time Next Year and for me it’s a great combination and I’ve been able to rest a bit, which has been good,’ he explained.

The TV personality also admitted he had wanted to leave Today years prior to being sacked and was keen to join the 60 Minutes program.

‘The longer you do these hours, the more used to them you get and for me it was a time where I thought “how good is this”,’ he said.

‘You can go and do your own thing so for me it turned into a great job again. And than towards the end of last year it just got difficult again,’ he added.

Karl will make his television comeback on August, 12 on This Time Next Year.
