Karl Stefanovic’s son, 19, reveals what REALLY happened at the Today host’s lavish wedding

Karl Stefanovic’s teenage son has set the record straight on conflicting reports whether he and his siblings attended their father’s wedding in Mexico last weekend.

Speaking to Daily Mail Australia on Friday, 19-year-old Jackson Stefanovic said that he and his brother River, 12, and sister Ava, 13, did not attend the ceremony. 

Jackson was thrust back into the spotlight on Monday after his mother Cassandra Thorburn, 47, was quoted in New Idea as claiming that her three didn’t did not attend the Today host’s nuptials on December 8. 

Cassandra alleged that Jackson, Ava, and River were not present when their father married Jasmine Yarbrough, despite them being flown to Mexico for the occasion.  

Supporting his mother’s version of events, Jackson told Daily Mail Australia he was not at the chapel.

‘I didn’t go to the ceremony, I went to say congratulations [to Karl and Jasmine] after they’d all left the chapel but it was a lot later,’ he said.

‘My brother and sister didn’t want to go, and I was not going to leave them on their own so I looked after them.

‘I figure at their age they may not have an understanding of watching a parent get re-married. They might not understand it’s just a parent moving on.’

He added: ‘I left with my girlfriend [Anna Blackwell] and they said it was because we were too drunk which is just stupid – we left because it was s**t.’

When asked about the wedding experience and his time in Mexico, Jackson said: ‘It was alright, I was pretty much just with my girlfriend the whole time just enjoying the country and not worrying about the wedding.’

In an interview with New Idea published earlier on Monday, Cassandra was quoted as saying that her three children didn’t attend the wedding.

‘My 19-year-old [Jackson] assured me they [he and his siblings] did not attend,’ she claimed.

She then hinted that Karl had ‘designed’ the wedding so that the younger children – River and Ava – ‘had to spend those two weeks with their father’. 

Jackson, who is not bound by custody arrangements because he is over 18, only attended to ‘protect’ his siblings, Cassandra claimed. 

It comes after an ‘insider’ told The Daily Telegraph that Karl’s children ‘were told they did not have to attend the wedding, but Karl wanted them on the trip’. 

The newspaper’s source added that Cassandra had ‘received a call from Jackson on the afternoon of the nuptials confirming [he and River] did not attend the ceremony.’
