Kasey Chambers reveals why she couldn’t write Not Pretty Enough today

Kasey Chamber’s hit track Not Pretty Enough became a number one smash when it was released in January 2002.

But the singing sensation says she wouldn’t be able to write the same song today.

Speaking with Mamamia, the 41-year-old musician claimed she is different person now than she was then, revealing she ‘cares less’ as she gets older.

‘Now I’m like ‘Who gives a f**k?”: In a candid interview with Mamamia, Kasey Chambers revealed why she wouldn’t be able to write her hit 2002 track Not Pretty Enough today

Kasey penned Not Pretty Enough – a devastating country ballad about inadequacies and insecurity – at the tender age of 25.

‘I look at Not Pretty Enough, and that was written by me looking in the mirror and not liking what I saw. We all have those days. But now I’m like, ‘Who gives a f***?’ It’s not that important,’ the candid crooner told Mamamia.

She added: ‘I think I care a little bit less… I try to do the best that I can, but I f*** it up a lot as well. But that’s all part of the journey’.

In the intimate interview, Kasey also talked about raising her three children – Talon, 15, Arlo, 10, and Poet, six.

Despite their very Hollywood-sounding names, the singer says her kids enjoy a normal upbringing without all the material trappings that celebrity offspring often have handed to them.

‘I’m teaching my kids not to rely on the material stuff. I grew up in a very minimalistic household… There are things that are way more important,’ she told Mamamia.

The ARIA Award winner added that she lives her life largely out of the spotlight, and that her three children certainly don’t think of her as a ‘famous mum’.

Kasey co-parents with her ex-husband, musician Shane Nicholson, whom she divorced in 2013.

The star is currently thought to be single telling The Australian Woman’s Weekly last year: ‘I’m single… I love it. I’ve always been open to life.’
