‘They find it hilarious’: Kate Ferdinand reveals her stepchildren try and ‘wind her up’ by playing old TOWIE episodes where she’s crying

Kate Ferdinand has revealed her stepchildren try and wind her up by playing old footage from her days on TOWIE.

The reality star, 31, first appeared on the ITVBe show in 2015 but quit two years later after finding love with Rio Ferdinand.

During her time on the programme she was embroiled in many dramas with her on/off boyfriend Dan Edgar, resulting in many tears on camera.

Now Kate’s revealed that Rio’s cheeky children Lorenz, 15, Tate, 13 and 11-year-old Tia tease her by playing back the emotional scenes.

Speaking on Vicky Pattison: The Secret To podcast she revealed: ‘The kids are proper wind ups!

‘They’ll say “I’m watching the best thing on YouTube” and I’ll come in and they’ve got an old episode of me on and it’s me crying or something!’

She added: ‘When they do this to me – it’s not the way I talk, the way I hold myself – everything about me is different. It’s like a different person and they find it hilarious!’

The former TOWIE star is mum to 16-month-old Cree with Rio, and stepmum to the retired footballer’s three children from his first marriage to Rebecca Ellison, who passed away of breast cancer aged 34 in 2015.

Speaking about taking on the role of stepmother, she explained: ‘I didn’t think about it too much in depth but, when I was, walking the journey, I found there was lots of difficult moments.

‘The children have been through a lot, Rio’s been through a lot, it’s a lot to take on, and I really felt like I needed to speak to people and I didn’t know where to turn.

‘I felt like nobody I knew had been through something similar. I’m so grateful that I can share my experience and help people.’

She added: ‘I fell into it, you have to. I’m a bit of an organised freak.

‘It can be a good thing getting everyone in line but it can be a bad thing because sometimes you need to let go and go with the flow.

‘It’s the best job ever. When you have children you appreciate everything but they’re very tiring and draining. A complete rollercoaster!’

Kate also touched on her journey to self acceptance, revealing: ‘I was always trying to look at other people and thinking, “oh, they’re doing this, I should be doing this”, whatever everyone’s doing, comparing.

‘Now I’m just being ok with being me. I’m not going to be the smartest, I’m not going to be the prettiest, but I am me and that’s good enough.

‘That’s a journey, it takes time and sometimes I still don’t love myself and I beat myself up.’
