Kate Garraway admits she’s feeling ‘exhausted and fretful’ as husband Derek Draper continues to go in and out of hospital following Covid battle
Kate Garraway took to Instagram on Monday to give her fans an update about her husband Derek Draper’s continued health battle.
The GMB host admitted she feels ‘exhausted and fretful’ as her beloved husband goes in and out of hospital and continues to need round the clock medical care.
Derek, 54, was is UK’s longest-suffering patient of Covid after being admitted to hospital with the virus in March 2020 and hasn’t been able to make a full recovery.

Kate, also 54, shared a video of a beautiful garden and penned: ‘So Derek has been in and out of hospital a lot recently.
‘Hopefully the wonderful health teams will help him improve but I woke up early feeling exhausted & very fretful.
”As you know my garden is my #happyplace so came out for some #calm and to get stuck in to some weeding & planting.

‘It’s been ages since have been able to & I really missed it but nature hasn’t me . The flowers are blooming, fruits growing , leaves dancing in the breeze.’
She continued: ‘Am sure there’s a message in there somewhere for how life finds a way , and I certainly feel better for being in amongst it.
‘Now to get my hands dirty & get stuck in! #happysundayeveryone and hope you find some joy!’
Just last month, Kate missed a week of hosting Good Morning Britain following ‘urgent’ issues at home.

And she recently detailed how she struggles with ‘loss’ as Derek continues his lengthy recovery.
The presenter, who shares daughter Darcy 17, and son William, 12, with Derek spoke candidly about the struggle during a recent episode of Your Body Uncovered. Detailing how his ongoing health battle has put strain on their relationship.
Derek returned home from hospital in April 2021 after a year-long battle and still requires round-the-clock care in the midst of his lengthy recovery.
Kate shared: ‘When something is neurological, it’s not just caring for the physical problem, it affects the relationship as well’
She revealed how Derek can say some words, but not express himself completely, sharing: ‘In a sense Derek – because of Covid – has a version of this where he can understand, sometimes do odd words, but can’t express himself.’
Kate previously admitting that if left unaided for over three days, Derek could die.
He is bed-stricken, with Kate doing much of the caring herself as she insists she won’t ‘ever give up on him’.
