Kate Langbroek reveals she is moving to Italy with her family after a ‘terrifying’ attack on her Melbourne home – but will still present her drive-time radio show with Dave Hughes

Kate Langbroek has revealed she is relocating with her family to Bologna, Italy.

The Hit Network star will continue to present the Hughesy & Kate drive-time show alongside comedian Dave Hughes from an overseas studio.

The 53-year-old was initially going to quit radio altogether following her move to Europe, but her longtime colleague Dave convinced her to stay.

‘The reason that we left KIIS FM [at the end of 2017] was because I only wanted to sign a one-year contract because I knew that we wanted to go and live overseas this year,’ Kate, who moves to Bologna in Italy next week, told News.com.au.

While she assumed she would have to quit working in the Australian media, Dave told her: ‘You’re crazy, we’ve got to keep doing the show.’

Kate explained: ‘[Dave is] a very determined person and he had an outcome that he wanted and so there was no point in discussing the others really.’

The Hit Network was apparently so determined to keep the Hughesy and Kate partnership alive that they sent executive producer Sacha French over to Bologna to find a studio for Kate to broadcast from.

Dave also said he is committed to working with Kate, even if it’s a long-distance arrangement, because their chemistry is unrivaled.

‘In many ways [working with Kate] is the easiest thing I’ve ever done. It’s not work when I’m with her, basically. I was like, “If we can make it happen that is definitely my best result”.

‘She took a lot of convincing to be honest, but we’ve got there so let’s hope that technology will be on our side and we’ll have a fun year.’

Kate’s decision to move her family overseas comes after a homeless man launched a ‘terrifying’ attack on her St Kilda home in March 2018.

The man repeatedly kicked her front door as she tried to protect her three sons.

Kate, her husband and their children received their visas last Monday and will move to Bologna next week.
