After relocating to Italy with her family at the beginning of last year, Kate Langbroek now finds herself in lockdown in the beleaguered nation as the coronavirus pandemic worsens.

In a post on Instagram on Monday, the 54-year-old radio host revealed the reality of how the crisis is starting to take a toll on her family.

Sharing a photo of her dinner laid out on the table, Kate said some of her children had had a meltdown during the meal.

‘Tonight at dinner two of my four children cried,’ the mother of Lewis, Sunday, Artie and Jan with her husband of 17 years, Peter Allen Lewis, captioned the post.

‘Maybe it was cause of the fennel/apple/Parmesan salad. More likely it was because of lockdown and coronavirus and long days. I am sure it wasn’t because of the pizza.’

Kate has been keeping her fans updated on what life is like in Italy as the coronavirus pandemic continues to ravage the country.

As of Monday morning, there had been 97,689 cases of coronavirus in Italy, resulting in 10,779 deaths. 

Speaking on Hit FM’s Fifi, Fev & Byron on Friday, Kate revealed the strict measures put in place by the Italian government to try and limit the spread of the virus.

‘We’re still allowed out to buy food [from the supermarket], but you’ve got to have a police form to fill out, that you have to have with you,’ she said.

‘Of course the printer’s not open so I’ve got a photo of [the police form] on my phone,’ she added with a laugh.   

She also revealed that she and her family go ‘for days’ without leaving their apartment, with the exception of trips to the grocery store. 

In Australia, there have been 4,163 cases of coronavirus, resulting in 17 deaths, as of Monday morning.
