Kate Moss joins Naomi Campbell and Meg Matthews at St Paul’s Church for funeral of Annabelle Nielson

Supermodels Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss joined Meg Mathews at St Paul’s Church in Knightsbridge yesterday for the funeral of their best friend, socialite Annabelle Neilson, whose untimely death at 49 has caused shockwaves among the fading bright young things.

Nathaniel Rothschild (son of banker Jacob), who was once married to Neilson, was absent from the service, but volatile diva Campbell turned up late — so all eyes were on her as she was escorted to the top pew, sparkling in jewellery and teetering in a pair of vertiginous heels.

Moments later, she took to the lectern to give a reading with Moss, 44 (right), who wore an unflattering, skin-tight dress. Kate and Annabelle met through modelling in the Nineties.

Orlando Bloom arrived on a motorbike and was pictured with his Lord of the Rings co-star Liv Tyler as they both wore head to toe black.

The actress arrived with her partner Dave Gardner, a football agent.

Alexander McQueen’s former wild child muse Annabelle Neilson died of natural causes at her London home.

The 49-year-old model, writer and muse – who was a close friend of Kate Moss – was found dead at her £3.1million pad in leafy Chelsea, west London, earlier this month.

Westminster Coroner’s Office confirmed that an investigation has now been concluded and there would not be an inquest.

Ms Neilson’s sister, Millie, previously said in a statement that Annabelle died as a result of a heart attack.

A spokesperson from Westminster Coroner’s Court said: ‘If we have concluded there will not need to be an inquest, you can assume that Ms Neilson died of natural causes.’

The millionaire heiress died eight years after best friend and fashion designer Alexander McQueen took his own life.

One of her final public appearances was at the wedding of her ex-boyfriend, Lord Edward Spencer-Churchill, at Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire where she partied with pal Kate Moss and bride Kimi Hammerstroem.

Supermodel Moss, 44, posted a snap of the pair hugging, with a red heart broken in two after the tragic news of her pal’s death.

Moss’s tribute came as MailOnline revealed Annabelle feared she was ‘cursed’ before her death and sank into depression after her children’s books failed to sell because she wanted to be famous in her own right.

Other friends included Sadie Frost and Naomi Campbell and she was once a member of the notorious Primrose Hill set in the 1990s.

Ms Neilson was the granddaughter of a second cousin of the Queen Mother, and daughter of Elizabeth, the Marquesa Campus di Santinelli. Her first cousin was the Earl of Warwick.

She left the exclusive Lady Eden’s School at 16 with no qualifications before heading to Australia for a gap year.

While there she was subject to a violent two hour attack by a man later convicted of killing three women. The horrific assault left her needing reconstructive facial surgery.

She turned to heroin before getting clean and meeting Nat Rothschild on a beach in India.

She was briefly married to the heir to the £500million banking fortune, but divorced him after three years of marriage in 1997.

In 2014, she joined the cast of Ladies of London – a British rival to the Real Housewives franchise. She also penned children’s series ‘The Me Me Mes’.

A Met Police spokeman said: ‘Police were called by London Ambulance Service at 10.20am on Thursday July 12 to an address in Oakley Gardens, Chelsea.

‘A woman was found deceased at that location. The death is not being treated as suspicious by police.’

Close friends previously told MailOnline Annabelle, or Tinky as she was known to them, had been battling mental health problems and was upset her books were not bestsellers like the ‘Mr Men’ or made into a TV series.

She also had battled crippling back pain after being thrown from her horse in 2013, and it is understood she was reliant on powerful pain killers.

Her life was littered with personal tragedies especially soul mate Alexander McQueen’s suicide in 2010, which she never fully recovered from.

It is believed she is the last person to have seen him alive.

In 2015, Neilson told the Daily Mail of the designer: ‘He was my brother, my boyfriend, my soulmate. Most of the time people called me Mrs McQueen. Quite often we were sharing a bed.’

Neilson’s sister Camilla previously released a statement on behalf of the family which said: ‘Very sadly, we have been informed today that my sister Annabelle, died as a result of a heart attack at home last Thursday.

‘It has come as a complete shock, as she had many plans having recently returned from Spain.

‘My parents and I are devastated and shocked by this news. We would ask the media to respect the privacy of our family and Annabelle’s close friends during this very difficult time.’
