Kate Ritchie breaks her silence on her ‘huge career change’ after announcing shock departure from Nova: ‘I have been working since I was an eight-year-old’
Kate Ritchie has broken her silence following her shock departure from her hit Nova drive show.
The radio host announced last month she was leaving her Nova FM show for the rest of the year due to stress.
Ritchie, 43, admitted on Kidspot’s The Juggling Act podcast, that it was a ‘really hard decision’ but she needed to ‘slow down’.

‘It was a really hard decision because I’ve been working since I was an eight-year-old child and I think that I thrive by having a schedule every day,’ she said.
‘I am not good at just sitting with myself. I have done so many great things this year, but it was just time to have confidence in saying, “this is what I need”.’
Ritchie went on to say: ‘I’m not going anywhere, and I suppose I’m in a very fortunate position that Nova have been completely supportive.’
‘They are completely supportive and generous with saying, if this is what you need, we want you back in 2023. So go and do it.’

Ritchie announced last month she was taking a break from her Nova FM national drive show.
She will be off the air for the remainder of the year but will return alongside co-hosts Joel Creasey and Tim Blackwell in early 2023.
Ritchie, who was busted for low-range drink driving in August, explained to listeners she’d had an ‘incredibly hectic and full-on’ year and needed time off.

‘This past year has been incredibly hectic and full-on for both me and my family,’ she said.
‘I have had much change and increased stress in my life, like many of you, in a short space of time. And it has taken its toll.
‘But still I am so proud that our Nova show, with Tim and Joel and the team, is just powering along, and going from strength to strength.’
