Kate Waterhouse is celebrating the release of her stylish new pyjamas collection with Wanderluxe Sleepwear.

Speaking to Daily Mail Australia last week, the 38-year-old journalist and media personality said she worked with the brand’s founder Sherri Kiernikowski during lockdown to create a ‘fun’ and ‘colourful’ line.

Kate, who is the daughter of Australian horse trainer Gai Waterhouse, also spoke about how she manages the juggle of being a working mother.

‘It was a fun thing to do, I did it during lockdown. I really loved the brand so I jumped at the opportunity and the creative experience,’ Kate said about designing the new collection.

‘It’s something that was a bit different for me. I did it in lockdown in between working and homeschooling.’

Kate opted for bright blue, pink and lilac pyjamas in her collection, with pieces ranging from camisole slip dresses ($94), to boxer sets ($179), and even chic material eye masks ($23).

‘I think cause of the year we’ve all had, I just wanted to have fun and colour,’ she said.

Kate said designing the collection for the brand was the perfect fit as she is a ‘pyjamas person’.

‘I’m a sleepwear lover, if you’re a PJ’s person, you know!’ she said with a laugh.

Speaking about the juggle, Kate – who often does fashion commentating at the races – said she’s lucky to be able to work in school hours.

She also credits her partner and husband of nine years, former NRL star Luke Ricketson, 48, as being a ‘hand’s on dad’ to their girls Sophia, seven, and Grace, five.

‘I do think you need to juggle, everything is a juggle you know, your kids come first, every mother would say that, their priorities and needs come first and you work your life around them,’ Kate said.

‘I’m lucky I can have a job where I can work in school hours… but it’s always a juggle, but it’s what works for you, everyone has a different balance and you do what’s best for your family.’

‘I’m lucky I have a very supportive husband that is always there if I have an evening event or race weekend. He’s a very hands on dad which is great,’ she finished.
