Kate Winslet recalled the humiliating moment she almost suffered a bathroom blunder while naked on stage during a play.
The actress, now 47, explained that she was acting in a production at Manchester’s Royal Exchange at the age of 18 when she ‘nearly did a poo on stage’ during a scene without clothes.
And the moment happened with quite an audience too, as she performed on theatre’s round stage – where visitors sit all the way around the stage – detailing that she was ‘standing in front of an audience who can see me from every f***ing angle’.

Appearing on the Graham Norton Show this week, Kate shocked the talk show host as she candidly said: ‘I nearly did a poo on stage once’.
Other guests Jack Whitehall, Lenny Henry and Nadiya Hussain were all gobsmacked at the revelation too, shouting: ‘What?!’
‘I’m just sitting here realising that you’re now gonna make me tell that story,’ the actress said as she was then asked to expand on the story.
Kate began: ‘When I was 18 years old, I was in a production of What The Butler Saw in Manchester. I played a character called Geraldine, who is applying for the job of the doctor’s secretary. And he [the doctor] says “well let me see, I need to give you a full body examanation please strip”‘.

Telling the story, she explained: I have to then lie on this bed and I lie there really awkwardly and uncomfortably and suddenly…. it’s happening, it’s happening, i’m gonna s**t myself and i’m lying on a white sheet, naked on a stage’
Explaining that usually, in a regular layout you would go behind the stage curtain and take your clothes off, the actress explained that because the theatre is round – guests circled the stage.
She continued: ‘So, I go behind the curtain and I do what I’ve done for nights on end. I have to then lie on this bed and I lie there really awkwardly and uncomfortably and suddenly…. it’s happening, it’s happening, i’m gonna s**t myself and i’m lying on a white sheet, naked on a stage.
‘So I’m like oh my god it’s happening now, it’s happened. I’m convinced i’ve totally s**t myself. So i’m like “what am I gonna do?” Because now I need to get up from behind the curtain and look for all my clothes and I’m like “I’ve done a f***ing poo”.’

Kate put on a dramatic performance while telling the story, standing up and acting it out as she went on to say that she became to scrunch up the sheet she was lying on, binding herself in it as she stands up inside the sheet.
‘And i’m still thinking “happening, happening” while standing in front of an audience who can see my from every f***ing angle. I’m absolutely just convinced that if I move my body, there’s gonna be poo on the floor. Honestly, I practically shiver off the stage and I hide in a corner and then i thought “i’ve gotta check the sheet”,’ she continued.
A confused Nadiya interjected: ‘Did you sh*t yourself or not?’

‘Ladies and gentleman, i had not actually done a poo but the second I got into my dressing room and ran to that bathroom, it was like gunfire,’ confirmed Kate.
The actress was just 18 at the time of the incident, but had already made a kickstart to her career after making her first TV appearance at age 15 in series Dark Season.
She then made her first film appearance three years later in thriller/drama flick Heavenly Creatures.
