Katharine McPhee reveals she had one of David Foster’s love songs on her Zac Posen wedding gown

Her custom strapless ivory Zac Posen gown was the centerpiece of her wedding to David Foster last week.

And Katharine McPhee revealed there was even more to the showstopping garment than met the eye, during the 35-year-old’s interview with Vogue.

‘Zac told me he wanted to incorporate our love of music somehow into the dress, so one of David’s songs was notated on the back,’ said the American Idol runner-up.

The actress continued: ‘It was the song, The Colour of my Love, that he wrote for Celine Dion and René Angélil for their wedding day. It was a relationship that always admired, and [he] was there from the beginning.’

 ‘I really trusted Zac Posen to make my wedding dress. I knew he would bring my dream to fruition’. 

‘I had sent him some reference images of Princess Grace. I loved her classic beauty and elegant simplicity,’ added the star of the defunct CBS series Scorpion.

During last Friday’s ceremony the singer wore a custom strapless ivory Zac Posen gown and afterwards she changed into her ‘something blue’ in a strapless blue silk tea-length dress.

There were nearly 100 guests at the wedding, including David’s two daughters, Sarah and Erin, whom he shared from a previous marriage with Rebecca Dyer.

The singer has changed her legal name after getting wed and took to Twitter after the ceremony, writing: ‘Introducing Katharine Foster’.

Katharine’s big day came after she took to Instagram to pay a sweet tribute to now-husband David, as at the time they were just hours away from tying the knot.

In her pre-wedding post, Katharine shared a clip of her cover of the Wizard of Oz classic Somewhere Over The Rainbow, as she told fans it was released 13 years to the day before her wedding.

The caption read: ‘Exactly 13 years ago today my very first single, Somewhere Over The Rainbow, was released right after Idol.

‘Today… I’m marrying the man who produced it. Life is full of beautiful coincidences, isn’t it? Thank you for taking me over the rainbow, David. ‘

The two sparked dating rumours back in May 2017 while having dinner at Nobu in Malibu and haven’t spoken much about their relationship to the public.

David proposed to Katharine back in July 2018 on top of a mountain in Anacapri, Italy.

Katharine was previously married to Nick Cokas from 2008 to 2016 where Foster played the piano at their wedding.

David has been married four times and has five daughters and seven grandchildren, his last marriage to Yolanda Hadid came to an end in 2017.

He was first married in 1972 to singer B.J Cook and the couple had one daughter, Amy, before divorcing after just under 10 years of marriage.

David married his second wife Rebecca Dyer in 1982 and they had three daughters, Sara, Erin and Jordan. They ended their marriage after four years in 1986.

Moving onto his third marriage, the record mogul wed actress Linda Thompson in 1991 and they collaborated on songs together throughout their marriage – but ended things in 2005.

During this marriage, David was step-father to Linda’s sons with Caitlyn Jenner, Brody and Brandon, who grew up living in his home in Malibu.

Upon David’s fourth marriage, he wed Dutch model Yolanda Hadid – mother to stunning supermodel sisters Gigi and Bella Hadid.

After a nine year relationship and four years of marriage, David and the Real Housewives of Beverley Hills star called it quits in 2015, officially divorcing in 2017.
