Katie Price is ‘angry and disappointed’ after ex Dwight Yorke fails to get in contact with Harvey

Katie Price has been left disappointed by her ex boyfriend Dwight Yorke, after he failed once again to get in contact with his son Harvey, 18.

The doting mum was hoping the footballer would make contact following the airing of her and Harvey’s BBC documentary on Monday night, which showed the day-to-day struggles for the disabled teenager.

But sources close to Katie, 42, have revealed she is ‘angry and disappointed’ by the radio silence from Harvey’s father.

Harvey, who is the eldest of Katie’s five kids, is on the autism spectrum and was born with disabilities including partial blindness, ADHD and Prader-Willi syndrome.

Friends of the star say that Katie hoped her BBC One documentary Harvey and Me, which showed Harvey preparing for his next step at a residential college, would prompt Dwight to contact his son.

Insiders have told The Sun though that ‘Katie hasn’t heard from Dwight, and she’s fuming about it – but as always, has left the door open for him to get in contact in the future’.

The friend added: ‘She doesn’t expect much from Dwight given that he’s ignored Harvey for a long time, but part of her thought he might see the show and get in contact.’

Before Monday’s documentarfy aired Katie expressed that she was hopeful that Dwight would watch and reach out to them.

She split from footballer Dwight, 49, and raised Harvey without him, before eventually marrying now-ex Peter Andre and having more children.

She told The Sun: ‘[Harvey’s] dad has never stuck up for him. It’s a weird one – I don’t know why and I don’t understand why he doesn’t want to be in touch.

‘I would love Dwight to watch the documentary and reach out to Harvey. I’ve always said the door is open for Dwight when he wants to get in touch. At the end of the day Harvey has done nothing wrong, he’s innocent.’

Dwight has since had another son, Brandon Tiger, 14, whom he shares with Naomi Smith.

Katie said: ‘[Harvey] deserves to know his dad and meet his half-brother. Why should Harvey be deprived of that and why should Harvey’s brother not get the chance to meet Harvey? I wonder if he even knows Harvey is his brother?’

The doting mum previously slammed her ex for not getting in touch while their son was fighting for his life in the intensive care unit last summer.

The former glamour model revealed that Harvey ‘could have died’ however his father still failed to reach out to her.

Despite Dwight’s reluctantance to see Harvey, Katie said her ex-husband and Harvey’s former step father Peter Andre wanted to visit him in hospital.

Dwight initially denied he was Harvey’s father and demanded a paternity test.

After the paternity test in 2002, the footballer publicly acknowledged Harvey as his son – but in an interview seven years later, he admitted he hadn’t kept in contact for ‘a combination of different things’.

He told Sky News’ Kay Burley: ‘One, my time schedule and being based up in Manchester and a footballer on an everyday basis.

‘I’m not sitting here and saying I’m a total perfect father. I’ve made mistakes along the way and I would love to turn the clock back.’

WHAT IS PRADER-WILLI SYNDROME?

Prader-Willi syndrome is a rare genetic condition that causes problems including constant urges to eat food, restricted growth and reduced muscle tone.

Other potential issues include learning difficulties, lack of sexual development and behavioral problems such as tantrums or stubbornness.

The rare condition, which affects one in every 15,000 children born in England, is caused by a defect on chromosome number 15 – and happens by chance.

Because there is no cure, treatment aims to manage the symptoms – with parents of sufferers urged to get their children to stick to a healthy, balanced diet.

Children with the syndrome can eat up to six times more than children of the same age – and still feel hungry.

It was first described in 1956 by Swiss doctors A Prader, A Labhart and H Willi.
