Katy Perry EXCLUSIVE: Singer goes off grid as she installs solar panels on her $19m home

She recently attended a secretive Google Camp climate change conference in Italy.

Now Katy Perry is taking the next step to do her bit for the environment as she has made her home and travel more eco-friendly.

The singer, 34, has gone completely off grid by installing solar panels all over her house – and even on her top of the range motors.

Renovations: Katy Perry is taking the next step to do her bit for the environment as she has made her home and travel more eco-friendly by installing solar panels

The I Kissed A Girl singer applied for an electrical permit four months ago to fit the panels on top of her $19 million property in the Hidden Valley area, an exclusive gated community in Beverly Hills.

As well as working on her home, the songstress has also made her vehicles environmentally friendly, by installing solar panels on top of her posh trailer.

Katy’s fleet of luxury cars have also been kitted out with slick silver covers, which protects them from UV rays.

The BRIT Award winning artist has gradually been working on doing her bit, and in the past five years she has been cycling to her gigs across the globe from her hotel room.

Back in 2014, she cycled 22 miles from Palo Alto to reach a concert in San Jose, California, and warned fans on Twitter that she’d be exhausted, posting: ‘Just in case ur wondering why I’m limping on stage later.’

Last year, the singer was seen cycling around cities in Australia, Amsterdam and Glasgow, where she handed out free tickets to local teenagers.

In recent years, Katy has been an outspoken critic of climate change and, last weekend, attended a Google Camp discussing the topic in the Sicilian city of Palermo, alongside her fiancé Orlando Blooms and fellow guests such as Leonardo DiCaprio and Barrack Obama.

At the summit, The Duke of Sussex is said to have given a passionate speech about saving the planet while being watched by the A-list crowd and power brokers.

Katy also did her bit for the environment in 2015 when she used her role as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador to star in a mock weather report about climate change.

The Hot and Cold singer pretended to be a weather presenter as she discussed the horrific effects extreme weather patterns are having on children around the world.

In the 60 second clip, she began ‘As a California Girl, I’m not the only one experiencing drought,’ before she highlighted flooding in Bangladesh, cyclone patterns in the Philippines and a mosquito-borne malaria outbreak in East Africa.

Katy’s environmental work is a shared passion with her fiancé Orlando, who is also an Ambassador.

The Lord Of The Rings star is also a part of Global Green, an environmental company, and renovated his London home to use solar panels and incorporate recycled materials, as well as energy efficient lightbulbs.

Last year, Orlando was honoured with the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation Special Award in recognition of his environmental awareness campaigning.
