Katy Perry is overcome with emotion during American Idol audition

She’s found a new way to reach her millions of fans.

And Katy Perry has taken her judging responsibilities seriously as she was seen overcome with emotion during an American Idol audition during Monday night’s episode on the ABC network.

Tears could be seen flowing from the eyes of the 32-year-old pop star as a contestant gave it their all, just moments after Perry took an embarrassing tumble while dancing and exposed herself to judges Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan.

Car crash survivor David Francisco was the last performance of the evening, auditioning to the Stevie Wonder song Isn’t She Lovely.

After telling pieces of his difficult story, David sat down with an acoustic rendition that moved the panel to tears.

While Perry was visually overcome with emotion, Richie moved in for a hug.

‘I’ve lost my voice,’ a tearful Katy told the 25-year-old Texan who easily received a golden ticket to Hollwood.

Katy went through a range of emotions during the episode, later getting up from behind the judges table to dance with contestant Michelle Susset, a 22-year-old waitress from Miami with roots from Venezuela.

While the I Kissed A Girl singer pranched around the stage, she lost a bit of her balance and took a tumble – exposing herself to fellow judges

Michelle had done an energetic Spanish number that got the whole panel grooving.

But Katy toppled over in her tight dress and heals, exposing her crotch.

‘She’s using the show as eHarmony,’ laughed Luke, a 41-year-old country superstar. ‘We gotta get you one of those good ol’ boys Katy, you keep dating them damn weirdos.’

The California Gurls singer bonded with one male contestant by inflating her neck ‘like a frog’.

She also took a real shine to ‘dreamboat’ California contestant Trevor Holmes, who admitted to a ‘crush’ on her.

‘You are so hot,’ said Katy, as Trevor talked about earning money to help his mother who suffers from lupus before asking, ‘Are you engaged?’

Trevor performed the Brett Young song In Case You Didn’t Know, with a little romantic ad lib directed at Katy.

‘He’s in construction, so he has lots of tools,’ cooed Katy, as Trevor’s girlfriend listened from behind the door.

Glitter-drenched Katy also fell for Washington DC native William Casanova who ‘sells shoes to beautiful women’.

The show opened with 15-year-old Mara Justine, who sang Rihanna’s Love On The Brain.

The New Jersey-based student got three yeses before Katy declared, ‘You got it, go, get out of here!’

Thaddeus also got a hug from Lionel.
