Global pop star Katy Perry couldn’t contain her smile as she received a ceremonial key to the Las Vegas Strip in Nevada on Wednesday afternoon.
As she received the honor as well as proclamation of June 8 as Katy Perry Day in Clark County, the Firework hitmaker, 37, wore a figure-hugging lime green dress and matching open-toed heels.
For the special occasion, she wore her dark tresses in a sleek top knot and a glamorous pair of drop earrings.
An honor: Pop star Katy Perry couldn’t contain her smile as she received a ceremonial key to the Las Vegas Strip in Nevada on Wednesday afternoon
While posing for photos, she held the massive key above her head, after speaking about her love for the city and her family roots there.
‘It feels so natural to be here. My aunt was a showgirl here, my grandma was a seamstress here, my dad grew up here he ended up being a chauffeur here, my parents here, they got married here, so it’s only natural that I would be on the stage here eventually,’ Perry gushed during the ceremony.
She marveled: ‘I did not know or think that I would be getting a key to the Strip!’

Clark County Commissioner Tick Segerblom, Resorts World Las Vegas President Scott Sibella, and the Senior Vice President of Concerts West/AEG Presents John Nelson presented her with the key.
Her fiance Orlando Bloom and their one-year-old daughter Daisy Dove did not appear to be at the ceremony, but he was spotted having dinner with some friends at Giorgio Baldi in Santa Monica that evening.
The news comes after Perry added 16 more concert dates to her popular Play Las Vegas residency in January and, again, last week for additional dates in June.

The additional shows come ‘thx to popular demand’, according to a tweet, by the 13-time Grammy nominee.
The added 16 dates will mean huge earnings for the California Gurls singer who was already set to pocket $168 million for the initial 32 performance run.
Katy and her team also spared no expense on the over-the-top Perry Playland set and whimsical costumes.
In total the star dons eight different looks for the show, also including an eye-catching white mini dress a pink PVC dress with a toadstool-inspired hat, before changing into a pink Cleopatra-style gown as she emerged from a keyhole.

Moving forward, June 8 will be Katy Perry Day in Clark County
Given the impact of the recent Covid pandemic, it was no surprise that Katy alluded to the virus with several oversized props, including a huge mask, and toilet rolls, to reference panic-buying of the essential at the start of the crisis last year.
Katy’s sets were described as nothing short of spectacular, comprising a keyhole, ducks, a life-size face mask – and the neon toilet which the Californian-born jumped out of.
As the Teenage Dream star’s Sin City presence grows in Sin City, Adele’s appears to be waning before it even began.
Only Katy: Her zany show see’s the mother of one emerge from a giant toilet and converse with a talking COVID mask, with critics lauding the show as both ‘poignant’ and ‘whimsical, and psychedelic’ (pictured in December 2021)

The singer, 33, tearfully announced that her show ‘just ain’t ready’ in January, amid claims she cancelled her highly-anticipated shows following a ‘furious row over a swimming pool stunt’ with acclaimed set designer Esmerelda Devlin.
While she promised fans that the dates would be rescheduled – blaming Covid for the sudden cancellation – it seems increasingly unlikely her ‘Weekends with’ residency in Las Vegas will go ahead any time soon, if at all, as her sets were seen being removed from the venue.
Now, four months after she canceled her highly-anticipated Las Vegas residency just 24 hours before she was set to hit the stage, the star’s team has yet to provide ticket-holders with an update on the postponed shows – despite the singer vowing to reschedule the dates for sometime this year.

With frustrations mounting, fans began using social media to call out Adele for seemingly leaving them in the dark last month, with many calling the months-long delay ‘bogus’ and ‘diva-like.’
Weekends with Adele was set to begin at Las Vegas’ Caesar’s Palace on January 21.
But the day before kick off, Adele announced that she’d be postponing the 12-week residency, citing the COVID-19 pandemic as a mitigating factor.
What a mess: Perry’s expanded residency comes as Adele fans are growing increasingly concerned that the British songbird may never kick off her own highly anticipated residency after she pulled the plug on the shows hours before it was slated to debut in January
The last-minute cancellation left many fans out of pocket after spending thousands on tickets and plane fares to see her onstage.
With many in search of answers – and some in search of refunds – fans have been directing their complaints to Adele’s official Twitter, as well as her fan page Adele Access and Ticketmaster.
‘I’ve decided I’m requesting my refund from the Adele Vegas show. It’s been four months and we haven’t received any word on new dates,’ penned one disappointed fan via Twitter on Tuesday. ‘The way these flight prices are currently, it’s no longer worth it to me.’
