And Katy Perry, 35, attempted to be ‘as safe as possible’ during Sunday evening’s broadcast by appearing on screen dressed as a bottle of hand sanitizer.
Before jumping into the show’s plethora of performances, Perry told host Ryan Seacrest that dealing with ‘a pregnancy in a pandemic’ is something she ‘will never forget.’

Earlier in the day, Katy gave fans a sneak peek at her American Idol costume on her Instagram page.
In the clip – shared with her 94.5million followers – the Teenage Dream songstress can be seen standing over a sink located in her lavish Los Angeles home.
Her costume had ‘American Idol Instant Music Sanitizer’ emblazoned across the front.

A jingle played softy in the background, before Katy poked her head out of the hole of her costume and began playfully addressing her viewers.
‘Oh, hey! Katy Perry, here, reminding you to stay safe, wash your hands, and tune into an all new like never before episode of American Idol tonight on ABC at 8/7 central,’ said the singer.
To conclude the comical 40-second clip, Katy exited her kitchen carrying a bowl of Veggie Straws and stealthily made her way through a slender doorway, while still donning her massive costume.
She also included a lengthy caption that noted that her and the American Idol crew are ‘keeping it both fresh and CLEAN!’

Katy has been an American Idol judge since 2018, after the series moved from its longtime home at Fox to ABC.
She judges alongside industry legend Lionel Richie and Country crooner Luke Bryan on the series that is currently in its third reboot season.
Perry is currently expecting her first child with fiance Orlando Bloom, 43 – who she has been dating on-and-off since 2016.
Bloom is already father to nine-year-old son Flynn, who he shares with ex wife Miranda Kerr.

‘It’s a girl,’ captioned the I Kissed A Girl singer, who shared a photograph of Bloom with his face covered in pink toned whipped cream.
