Kelly Clarkson reveals WHY she moved hit talk show from Los Angeles to New York City

Kelly Clarkson opened up about moving her talk show to the East Coast during an interview on Thursday.

While speaking with Nancy O’Dell on TalkShopLive, the mother-of-two explained that she told her cast and crew in January, ‘It’s either I’m not going to be able to continue with the show, or I got to go like East Coast.’

The three-time Grammy winner – who announced her new Las Vegas residency this week – explained that she felt isolated, saying, ‘My family is from the East Coast, they’re North Carolina based, so it was one of those things where … me and my kids really just needed a fresh start.’

Kelly continued, ‘It was really cool that NBC backed me because I was like “Y’all, I love doing this show, I really do, I didn’t even know I would,” but I was like, “I gotta make a change for me and my family.”

This fall, The Kelly Clarkson Show will move from the Universal Los Angeles lot to the iconic NBC Studios at Rockefeller Plaza in New York City.

This comes after Clarkson responded to claims that she allowed the set of her talk show to become a ‘toxic’ workplace after a Rolling Stone report placed blame on several of Clarkson’s producers.

After fans and observers made comparisons between her and Ellen DeGeneres, whose popular talk show was soiled by similar claims, Clarkson addressed the issue with a lengthy message posted to her Instagram page two weeks ago.

She vowed that she and the rest of the ‘senior staff’ would undergo ‘leadership training’ in order ‘to ensure that any notion of toxicity is eradicated.’

‘In my 20 years in the entertainment industry, I’ve always led with my heart and what I believed to be right,’ the songstress declared.

‘I love my team at ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show,’ and to find out that anyone is feeling unheard and or disrespected on this show is unacceptable,’ she continued.

She added, ‘As we prepare for a move to the east coast, I am more committed than ever to ensuring that not only our team that is moving but also our new team in NY is comprised of the best and kindest in the business.’

Earlier this week, Clarkson revealed she’d be heading to Las Vegas this summer to perform a 10-date residency at Planet Hollywood’s Zappos Theater following the release of her 10th studio album Chemistry.

‘It’s happening, y’all! I’m so excited to announce that I’m finally heading to Las Vegas for ten shows this summer!’

Chemistry: An Intimate Night with Kelly Clarkson runs July 28-August 19, and tickets go on sale this Friday at 10 am PST through Ticketmaster.

It marks Kelly’s first major concerts since her 28-date, $17.5M-grossing tour Meaning of Life in 2019.

Clarkson penned much of Chemistry about her seven-year marriage to Brandon Blackstock, which acrimoniously ended one year ago.
