Kelly Clarkson throws down her own rendition of Dolly Parton’s 9 to 5

Kelly Clarkson rocks FIVE different costumes as she throws down her own rendition of Dolly Parton’s 9 to 5 to promote The Kelly Clarkson Show

Kelly Clarkson put in some serious work on a new promotion for her upcoming talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Show.

In the charming new video the American Idol winner puts a fresh spin on the Dolly Parton classic 9 to 5 and walks in the shoes of a series of different working girls, including a firefighter, waitress, police officer, and construction worker.

Clarkson, 37, begins the musical number in pink silk pajamas and a matching sleep mask as she wakes up to start the day.

Before she does, of course, she pours herself a ‘cup of ambition’ in the form of caffeine and it isn’t long before she begins to jump in to a variety of different roles – the first being one as a car mechanic.

By the end of the video she dons a magenta dress with a ruffled bodice and a belted waist as background dancers move their heart out behind her.

Clarkson’s eponymous talk show is set to premiere on Monday, and Clarkson is thrilled to be a part of it.

She told People last month: ‘I feel like this show is an extension of all the things I love about my career.’

‘I actually enjoy doing interviews. I’m not normal, because none of my friends in the business like it, but I love talking. So, surprise!’

And Clarkson will continue to show off her prowess with covers on the show, as each episode will begin with one.

‘I’ve been doing that forever,’ she told the outlet. ‘We’ve made the show an extension of what I already do on tour.’

Above all else, however, Clarkson plans to prioritize the audience’s experience.

‘[They’re] kind of a co-host,’ she said. ‘I play off of them. … Everybody’s kind of in the same area.’

Although the show will feature plenty of famous guests, Clarkson insists they won’t always be the focus.

‘I want to have a well-rounded show,’ she explained. ‘That’s an example of my personality in general. The thing people say most about me is that I’m not really famous.

‘I don’t act like a famous person. I’m very much like, I go to Target every week, and I fill up my buggy just like everybody else. I’m just very normal. So I want the show to kind of reflect all of that.’

She's ready! She told People last month: 'I feel like this show is an extension of all the things I love about my career.' Here she is on the set of the show on August 22
