Four people have been killed in a plane crash in Kentucky while out on a group duck-hunting trip on Sunday.

Kentucky State Police said Kyle P. Stewart (41), Quinton D. Whitaker (40), Scott T. Foster (41) and his son, 15-year-old Noah Foster were killed Sunday afternoon when the small plane crashed in Barren County in south-central Kentucky.

According to Burkesville attorney, Stephen Pointdexter, Scott Foster was a respected attorney with a law office in Somerset, Kentucky.

‘Scott was a mentor to many attorneys,’ Poindexter said to Bowling Green Daily News.

Kentucky State Police Post 3 spokesman Trooper Jeremy Hodges says three people were pronounced dead at the scene, and the fourth person was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Hodges says the plane went through multiple tree tops before striking a larger tree, leaving a debris field about 200 to 250 feet long. The total scene spans around 500 feet.

A portion of the aircraft was stuck in the fork of the larger tree with the rest falling to the ground.

Due to fading daylight, the scene had to be locked down until the Federal Aviation Administration could arrive on the scene early Monday morning

Those who responded first had to use a rope system to reach a lower earthen embankment so that they could take photos of the scene and collect evidence.

Troopers and deputies with the Barren County Sheriff’s Office are staying on site until they arrive.

‘We’re trying to mark everything now,’ Hodges said Sunday evening.
