Kiefer Sutherland promises that his latest movie The Contractor is more than just an action flick: ‘It deals with things that are actually very moving’
Kiefer Sutherland expressed that The Contractor was more than just an average action flick during an interview with the i newspaper that was released on Friday.
The 55-year-old actor stars alongside Chris Pine in Tarik Saleh’s recently-released film and remarked that the movie had much more to offer than many of its viewers would expect.
The feature, which also starred performers such as Ben Foster and Gillian Jacobs, premiered both in theaters and on demand earlier this month.

Sutherland told the newspaper: ‘It separates itself from a straight-up action movie, because it deals with things that are actually very moving.’
The flick deals in the murky environment of private contracting and Sutherland says audiences will learn a lot when they watch the film.
The 24 star said: ‘A lot of people (will) have their eyes opened to a world that they just might not know about.’
Sutherland, whose father is fellow actor Donald Sutherland, also recalled how he was struck working with his father on the 2015 western Forsaken.

He recalled: ‘He’s still the only actor that I’ve actually ever worked with that I caught got looking at.’
The actor also spoke about one instance in particular when he became very engrossed in his father’s performance.
‘He was doing something–and I can’t even remember what it was–that I found just fascinating. I was kind of watching him like a student. And then there was this long pause,’ he said.
He added: ‘It was like, “Oh s***! That’s me!” And I had to say, “Sorry!” I forgot what I was supposed to do.’

Sutherland’s career went through a ‘dry spell’ during the late 1990s after a number of his films flopped and it made him aware that he needed to star in successful projects.
He explained: ‘I realized that I had to become very selective about what I did, because I’d make a couple of things that just weren’t very successful.’
The performer also noted that he eventually came to understand that he had to become more strategic about his career.

‘If I wasn’t careful, I was going to put myself in a position where I was just not going to be hirable,’ he said.
Sutherland then stated that he took a bit of time to learn new skills and re-evaluate his career.
‘I kind of developed other interests. And so when I came back to start, I felt really fresh, and I felt I was a different person. I’d lived a different life for a while. And I think that was kind of invaluable for me at that point,’ he said.
