The dress – which featured a statement collar – was styled with retro black and white heels and the beauty wore her blonde tresses in a sleek fringe.

For another look she wore a zebra-print silk shirt before changing into a colourful spotted sheer white shirt for the cover shot.

In the accompanying interview she said of finishing the fourth and final season of Killing Eve: ‘I’m trying not to think about it too much, honestly.

‘It’s sad, you know? I’ve been with this character for a really, really long time. I would rather we ended on a good note and kept our integrity, instead of going on and on, and being kicked out the door.’

On playing her iconic character she added: ‘There are so many layers to Villanelle. She’s multifaceted and you can’t really pin her down.

‘She’s instilled a sense of fearlessness in me. Through playing her, I’ve had to shed my own self-consciousness.’

She added of the killer’s style: ‘Villanelle’s style is loud and a little bit mismatched. She dresses for herself, which I adore. I’m happy when I’m comfortable, I want to explore fashion but ultimately, I want to feel like myself. Villanelle would probably hate me!’

Since rising to fame on the hugely-popular show, Jodie has gone on to star in films such as The Last Dune and the pandemic drama Help.

On transitioning from TV to film she explained to the glossy magazine: ‘It was so intimidating, it just felt so much bigger. I had a lot of stunts and I’d never really worked with green screen before.

‘I learnt how to draw emotion from myself while having to imagine everything around me. I’d always told myself there are television actresses and there are film actresses. I’d made up this story in my head that film was totally different, and it isn’t at all.’

On filming the show she said: ‘When I left the job I was so upset, I’ve got shivers even thinking about it, it was just non-stop.

‘I came away from it feeling like I’d never felt about any other project. The story felt bigger than all of us, so important and precious.’

Jodie said of the film: ‘It’s just crazy when you look back at this story from such a long time ago and you go ‘Wow, have we learnt at all?’

‘That’s the sad thing, you could go back to any decade in history and people would say, ‘God this is so relevant today.’

On The Last Duel’s world premier being at the Venice Film Festival she added: ‘I mean, the boats! It was hilarious because my dad messaged in our family WhatsApp group being like, ‘Just waiting for my taxi.’

On which genres she has on her bucket list she explained: ‘I’d love to do some very grounded sci-fi and I really, really want to work with [this year’s Palme d’Or winner] Julia Ducournau.

‘What I love about her is that she clearly has such a distinct voice and her films are so unexpected.’

It comes after the season three finale drove viewers wild when Villanelle and Eve stood back-to-back on London Bridge and agreed to walk away and ‘never look back’.

However, in the final moments of the episode both Villanelle and Eve turned back around to look at each other – suggesting the two characters might end up together.

The promise of a future relationship delighted fans, who begged for the next series to start with the two characters together.

The episode also tied up loose ends of the series, including revealing Konstantin as Kenny’s apparent killer. Security footage showed Konstantin (Kim Bodnia) arriving at the office and meeting with Kenny (Sean Delaney) hours before his death.

Armed with the footage, Carolyn confronted Konstantin, with Paul (Steve Pemberton), Eve and Villanelle also in attendance.

She came close to killing Konstantin but instead killed Paul, who was working for both MI6 and The Twelve. Konstantin, who had planned to leave to Cuba, left but Villanelle decided not to follow.

The episode also saw Villanelle being rejected by Carolyn after she said she was ready to become an MI6 agent. Carolyn responded: ‘What use are you to me… to anyone?,’ referring to the assassin’s desire not to kill any more.

The December issue of Harper’s Bazaar UK is on sale from 05 November.
