Kim and Kourtney Kardashian attend 60th anniversary of Santa Susana Field Lab nuclear meltdown

Kim and Kourtney Kardashian left their cozy Hidden Hills gated community on Saturday to attend the 60th anniversary of the nuclear accident at Santa Susana Field Laboratory in Simi Valley.

The Keeping Up with the Kardashians sisters used their considerable star power to bring awareness to the clean-up the contaminated site, which leaked radiation and chemicals in 1959.

‘Today I went to an event for the 60th anniversary of the Santa Susana Field Lab Melt Down, ‘ 38-year-old Kim tweeted.

‘This site is 10 miles from my home!’ Kim and Kourtney Kardashian (M) left their cozy Hidden Hills gated community on Saturday to attend the 60th anniversary of the nuclear accident at Santa Susana Field Laboratory in Simi Valley

‘It still hasn’t been cleaned up after 60 years! 60 kids all have rare cancers linked to this toxic site! It’s time to clean this up! This site is 10 miles from my home!’

While at Rancho Tapo Community Park, the Calabasas socialites painted commemorative rocks for a planned memorial and they both penned letters to California Senator Dianne Feinstein.

‘We thank you for your support and would love to get the clean up of the Santa Susana lab to begin,’ 39-year-old Kourtney wrote in her letter.

‘It has affected people close to us with all of the higher cancer rates in the area. The families deserve to live safely in their neighborhood.’

According to Daily News, the KKW Beauty CEO also received a rock painted by two-time cancer survivor Grace Bumstead, whose mother Melissa ran the event.

‘I met families [whose] babies have died from the rare cancer they have from living so close to this toxic site,’ Kim tweeted.

‘It’s heart breaking and they should have cleaned this up decades ago! [Boeing] and NASA tested rockets at this site & agreed to clean it up by 2017 but haven’t! It’s time!’

It was refreshing to see the half-Armenian beauties posting about the clean-up initiative for their captive, combined 282.3M following rather than their usual self-promotional selfies.

Back in February, Kourtney announced she was a supporter of Senator Feinstein’s Personal Care Products Safety Act while appearing on the TODAY show.

‘I met with Environmental Working Group, with the women, we all had lunch together and I said, “How can I help?” I had been using their app for years, since I had my first son and I got really into it and checking my products,’ the Poosh founder said on the NBC morning show.

‘It shouldn’t be up to these companies. There should be laws put in place so that the companies and [customers] – I shouldn’t have to be sitting in my bathroom scanning all my products – to know that products I’m using are safe or not safe, especially products for my kids.’

Meanwhile, Kim announced April 15 that she was following in the footsteps of their late father Robert, who was a defense lawyer on O.J. Simpson ‘Dream Team’ in 1995.

‘It’s true I did not finish college. You need 60 college credits (I had 75) to take part in “reading the law,” which is an in office law school being apprenticed by lawyers,’ the wrongful incarceration advocate admitted.

‘I’ve seen some comments from people who are saying it’s my privilege or my money that got me here, but that’s not the case. One person actually said I should “stay in my lane.” I want people to understand that there is nothing that should limit your pursuit of your dreams, and the accomplishment of new goals.’
