Kim Jong-un’s singer ex-girlfriend seen alongside North Korean dictator after she was ‘executed’

Back from the dead! Kim Jong-un’s pop star ex-girlfriend is seen alongside North Korean dictator in public after reports she was executed by firing squad for making a sex tape

  • Hyon Song-wol, 42, is lead singer of all-female Moranbong Band
  • She is also rumored to have dated North Korean ruler Kim Jong-un
  • In 2013, South Korean press reported that she was executed by firing squad
  • Hyon was alleged to have made a sex tape, prompting Kim to order execution
  • But North Korean state media photographed her alongside Kim recently

A North Korean pop star feared executed by her ex-boyfriend, ruler Kim Jong-un, is alive.

Hyon Song-wol, who is known for propaganda hits like ‘Excellent Horse-Like Lady,’ was seen this week touring factories with Chairman Kim, the Sunday Times of London reported.

Hyon is the 42-year-old lead singer of Moranbong Band, an all-women group.

She is also a member of the central committee of the ruling Workers’ Party of Korea, which of course is chaired by Kim.

‘Excellent Horse-Like Lady’ is a 2005 hit song that is regarded as a tribute to North Korea’s hardworking textile employees.

Hyon was photographed next to Kim as they visited factories. They were also side-by-side while watching the Mass Games gymnastics performance.

There were reports that in 2013 Kim ordered Hyon’s execution after she allegedly made a sex tape.

Hyon was rumored to have been shot by firing squad alongside dozens of singers and dancers.

But Hyon was then seen on television after newspaper reports of her death appeared in the South Korean press.

North Korean officials denied the reports at the time, labeling the rumors the work of the South Korean government and media.

But South Korea’s own spy chief Nam Jae-joon ignited reports again when he was quoted as saying ‘We are aware of the execution of some 10 people associated with the Unhasu Orchestra,’ in October.

The Korean singer was seen delivering a speech at a national art workers rally in Pyongyang in May 2014.

During her speech, the Moranbong band member even thanked Kim for his leadership while pledging to work harder to ‘stoke up the flame for art and creative work’.

Kim, 35, who succeeded his late father as supreme leader of North Korea in 2011, met the pop singer 15 years ago when he returned from studying in Switzerland.

However, his father, Kim Jong-il, disapproved of the relationship and ordered it to end.

Hyon went on to marry an officer in the North Korean military and is believed to have had a baby.

But rumors had circulated that Kim was still secretly seeing her, followed by reports he had demanded her execution.

Last week, there were reports that Kim had ordered the execution of a key negotiator in the country’s talks with the United States.

President Donald Trump said Wednesday that North Korea’s special representative to the U.S. for nuclear negotiations had not been assassinated – and stated unequivocally that he ‘wasn’t killed.’

Trump said the negotiator, Kim Hyok Chol, was recently ‘at the theater’ – a reference to North Korean state media, which reported he attended an event with dictator Kim Jong-un Sunday.

Last week it was reported that two North Korean officials involved in negotiations with the U.S. – Kim Yong-chol (left) and Kim Hyok Chol (right) – were ‘purged.’ But they were later seen in public

That account was picked up by western media, and CNN reported Tuesday that Kim Hyok Chol is alive and in the custody of the North Korean state.

The president was asked after landing in Ireland about reports that Kim had killed one of his own senior officials, following the report that the country’s negotiator had been executed by firing squad.

There were also reports that another top official who negotiated with the U.S., Kim Yong-chol, was sentenced to hard labor.

But he, too, was seen alongside Chairman Kim at a recent theater performance.
