Kim Kardashian is roasted on Twitter after she raves about Serial podcast

Kim Kardashian has finally started listening to Serial — four years after the enormously popular podcast aired, captivating millions of listeners and ushering a new era in the true crime genre.

The star, 37, took to Twitter on Sunday to rave about the suspenseful show, which centers around the 1999 murder of Hae Min Lee, then an 18-year-old high school student, in Baltimore, Maryland.

Adnan Syed, her former boyfriend, now 38, was charged with her murder, convicted, and sentenced to life in prison in 2000. He was granted a new trial after the release of the podcast and amid renewed public interest around the case, but his situation remains in limbo.

‘Who has listened to the SERIAL podcast? I’m on episode four now and dying to know what you guys think?’ Kim asked her 58.7 million Twitter followers on Sunday.

‘Is he guilty or innocent?!?!’ she added in reference to Adnan, echoing the many debates that took place among fans of the podcast when it first aired four years ago.

Since its release, Serial has earned a Peabody Award and its episodes had been downloaded 175 million times as of March 2017, according to Variety.

Twitter users wasted no time to roast Kim for getting into the podcast this late in the game.

‘All of my MySpace friends won’t stop BBMing me about it,’ one person joked.

Someone else asked: ‘Was this a scheduled tweet from 2014?’

Another person feigned interest for another cultural phenomenon that peaked a few years ago (specifically, in 2012), writing: ‘Have you guys seen Gangnam style?? SO funny!’

Someone else chimed in: ‘Kim honey you are like 100 years behind.’

‘This is how rich Kim is completely out of touch with society what a flex. Respect,’ another person wrote.

Serial, which was hosted by Sarah Koenig and co-produced by her and Julie Snyder, revealed little-known evidence about the case.

A loyal army of listeners often acted as armchair detectives, raising new questions about the case and whether Adnan was indeed guilty.

Earlier this year, the Maryland Court of Special Appeals ordered a new trial for Adnan, upholding a 2016 lower court ruling. But Maryland’s highest court later agreed to consider whether Adnan’s murder conviction should actually be reinstated.

Arguments in the case are scheduled to be heard in the court’s December session, according to court documents. It’s far from clear when a decision might come.

Rabia Chaudry, a family friend and staunch supporter of Adnan’s who brought his case to the attention of the host of Serial and also wrote the 2016 book Adnan’s Story: The Search for Truth and Justice after Serial, reached out to Kim after reading her tweet.

‘Uh Kim, can I send you my book. Please?’ she wrote.

In June this year, Donald Trump pardoned Alice Marie Johnson, a woman who was serving life without parole for drug offenses, after Kim championed her case and met with the president in the Oval Office.
