Kim Kardashian ‘was paid $2million’ for her viral Uber Eats advert with Magda Szubanski

Kim Kardashian debuted in the viral Uber Eats campaign with Kath & Kim character Sharon Strzelecki, played by Magda Szubanski, last month.

And now the Hollywood star’s rumoured appearance fee has been revealed.

According to NW magazine, Kim was paid around $2million (US$1.35million) to wear a netball bib and act confused by Sharon’s pronunciation of ‘noice’.

Magda, 58, said she was initially shocked the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star had agreed to film the advert, which featured a slew of in-jokes about mid-2000s sitcom Kath & Kim.

Australians loved the commercial, with fans praising it on Twitter as a ‘masterpiece’ and ‘the greatest Uber advert ever made’.

The $2 million figure had previously been claimed by Junkee, who speculated her global reach and brand influencing power was likely to draw a large payout.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Uber Eats and Kim Kardashian West’s management for comment.

Appearing on Nine’s Today show last week, Magda admitted that even Kim was confused by the commercial at first, having no idea what netball actually was.

‘At first, she thought it was some kind of joke about the Met Ball. And it’s the most anti-fashion ad that you can imagine,’ laughed Magda.

But both stars were keen to create the commercial, with Magda describing Kim as ‘lovely’.

Magda said she was surprised by how easygoing Kim is, and was impressed by her willingness to don a netball skirt, bib and bowl haircut for the ad.

‘She was up for it. She’s more playful and self-deprecating than people think,’ she added.

In a radio chat with Nova 96.9’s Fitzy & Wippa, Magda also revealed she wasn’t in the room with Kim when they filmed their Uber Eats commercial, earlier this year.

She jokingly said Sharon’s ‘busy schedule’ was to blame, adding that Kim, 39, had filmed her part of the footage two days prior

‘Kim had to film her stuff a couple of days later. They were in the same room, but not at the same time.’
