Kind teen gives sneakers to two special needs classmates

A kindhearted teenager surprised two of his special needs classmates with new pairs of Vans after the two boys fell in love with his own sneakers.

Roderick Mathis, who goes by Lureddd online, took to Twitter earlier this week to share a video of himself gifting the two pairs of shoes to his classmates.

He can be seen in the touching clip approaching the two boys and opening his backpack to reveal two shoe boxes, each wrapped in a plastic bag.

Roderick, who, like his classmates, appears to be from the US, then removes each of the bags and hands a box to each of the boys.

They are then free to check out the contents of each box, this discovering that they are now the proud owners of brand new Vans.

One of the two boys, whom Roderick later identified as 17-year-old Ahmad, promptly leans in for a hug while beaming with joy.

The clip has proven a hit on Twitter, where it has been liked more than 226,000 times and shared more than 81,000 times.

It was filmed not by Roderick himself but by an onlooker who chose to record the touching moment.

Roderick later shared it on his Twitter account, writing in the caption: ‘They told me they liked my shoes ,and I [promised] them I’ll get them some so I did.’

All three boys posed for a photo together, with Roderick wrapping an arm around each of his two classmates, who are, of course, holding the shoe boxes in the picture.

Roderick is sporting his own pair of Vans, a black version of the sneakers with white laces, in the snap.

Other Twitter users have congratulated the teen on his kind gesture, with one person writing: ‘You made me cry. Way more because i work with special needs children. Keep being a blessing.’

‘I just cried cause people spreading love is the most beautiful thing ever,’ someone else wrote.

Some have called on to Vans to reward the teen for his initiative, or to donate sneakers to help him give pairs of shoes to more people.
