It’s reported Maguire earned $4million for his part, later negotiating a $17.5million salary for the 2004 sequel Spider-Man 2, per the Cheat Sheet.

The first of the Sam Raimi-directed Marvel features would rake in $821million upon its 2002 release while the sequel earned $789m.

Dunst pointed out how she was central to the sequel’s marketing strategy, telling The Independent: ‘But you know who was on the cover of the second Spider-Man poster? Spider-Man and ME,’ she told The Independent.

But Dunst didn’t rule out a return to the role of Mary Jane ‘MJ’ Watson, telling Variety: ‘I would do it. Why not? That would be fun.’

‘I would never say no to something like that,’ she said, joking: ‘I’d be old MJ at this point with little Spidey babies.’
