Kit Harington and Rose Leslie’s wedding final preparations underway

With just hours to go until Kit Harington and Rose Leslie tie the knot at Wardhill Castle on Saturday, the father of the bride Sebastian Leslie has told of his delight about the upcoming ceremony.  

The Game Of Thrones co-stars, both 31, will marry at Rose’s family estate in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, with last minute preparations taking place to ensure the couple have a fairy tale wedding. 

Speaking at the entrance to his sprawling estate, Mr Leslie told MailOnline: ‘We are absolutely thrilled for Kit and Rose to be marrying today.It’s a delight.’

He added the ceremony was using facilities from the local area, Aberdeenshire, as well as the catering. 

Mr Leslie admitted he was not in charge of the wedding which was being coordinated by his wife Candy.

He said: ‘As you undoubtedly know the father is not in charge of the marriage [ceremony].’

Earlier in the day, members of the close-knit Leslie clan were sweeping up outside sprawling Wardhill Castle, clearing the entrance to the show-business wedding of the year.

Sebastian Leslie, Rose’s father, was putting the final touches to his wedding speech as he prepared to give his daughter away at the ceremony held at the remote castle, in Aberdeenshire, which has been in the family for 900 years.

And the couple’s wedding planner popped in to make sure the lavish decorations were in place at the huge marquee that has been set up inside the spacious walled garden which forms part of the castle estate.

Kit Harington, who plays Game of Thrones hero Jon Snow, will tie the knot to co-star Rose Leslie, who plays Wildling Ygitte, at 3pm followed by a wedding breakfast attended by up to 100 guests.

The wedding ceremony will be conducted by a Benedictine monk, father Chad Boutlon, chaplain of Ampleforth Abbey, North Yorkshire

The couple, both 31, are expected to spend their wedding night at the castle, staying at the Laird’s Bedroom, which has a four-poster bed.

Game of Thrones co-star Peter Dinklage, who plays the popular character Tyrion Lannister, was among a number of fellow actors who have flown in for the wedding.

Also seen heading to the nuptials was singer Jason Mumford and Ben Lovett of Mumford & Sons, as he was pictured hobbling on crutches through Aberdeen Airport.  

Whilst they were not invited to the wedding, a group of Chinese students made an epic journey to give their best wishes to the Game of Thrones wedding couple.

The group took trains, buses and even stayed overnight to reach remote Wardhill Castle to deliver flowers to their hero Jon Snow, actor Kit .

Audrey Xu, 24, who is studying at Glasgow University, told MailOnline: ‘We want to give out best wishes to Jon Snow. He is my hero. He is so brave and very handsome.’

Audrey, who is traveling with fellow student Yun-Yao Li, spent the night in a hostel in Inverness as part of their epic journey.

‘We left Glasgow yesterday and took the train to Inverness. We spent the night in a hostel and we caught another train to Inverurie. And then we got a bus. It dropped us off at a village down the road. We walked from there.’

The young women met up with another pair of Chinese students in the bus who were also big Game Of Thrones fans.

Wei Chung, 28, told MailOnline: ‘We did not know the girls before, we met them in the bus. We are all big fans of Jon Snow and Game of Thrones.’

Wardhill Castle – one of a number owned by the Leslie Clan – is the perfect location for the show business wedding of the year, following its transformation into an exclusive weekend retreat. 

Set on a vast estate of corn fields and grazing sheep and cattle Wardhill Castle charges up to £3,000 for a minimum two-night stay. New Year Bookings increase to £3,500 for a three-night sojourn.

The castle has its own butler – charging guests £200-a-day, a house chef, cooking menus of up to £70 per person and a bag-piper on request.

The eight bedrooms each have their own name and distinct style, including the Turret bedroom, the Spanish bedroom, the Georgian bedroom and the Laird’s bedroom.

Activities on offer at the estate include clay pigeon shooting, quad biking and even a mini highland games.
