Klinger returns for BBL clash with Stars

Perth Scorchers opener Michael Klinger has been named to return for Tuesday’s BBL clash with the Melbourne Stars at the WACA Ground.

Klinger missed the season-opening win over the Sixers in Sydney after his wife Cindy was diagnosed with breast cancer.

The 37-year-old replaces Josh Philippe in the side.

The Stars will be without batsman Kevin Pietersen, who returned home to England for Christmas.

Peter Handscomb, who was released from international duties after missing out on selection for the Boxing Day Test, replaces Pietersen in the side.

Rob Quiney was included in place of Evan Gulbis.

The Stars won the toss and elected to bowl.
