‘It’s made for ugly people’: Eagle-eyed shoppers left in stitches after spotting a $12 Kmart hoodie with pockets stitched on the wrong side

  • A woman has shared a snap of a hoodie from Kmart with pockets on the back 
  • She says she isn’t sure if the garment was a mistake or if it is part of a new trend 
  • Commenters have joked the item is for ‘ugly people’ or say its a popcorn holder

An eagle-eyed shoppers have been left in stitches after spotting a $12 Kmart hoodie with pockets sewn on the back instead of the front.  

Shyanne, an Australian mum, took to a Facebook group to share pictures of the garment along with a question asking: ‘Mistake or a new trend?’

A similar item listed for sale on the retailer’s website describes the piece as a ‘popover hoodie’ featuring long sleeves but the pockets are stitched on the front.

Within moments of posting, the woman was bombarded with hilarious suggestions,  including ‘it’s made for ugly people’ or designed to ‘hide things from the kids’.

Many commenting joked the item could be starting a new trend, although they weren’t sure it was one they backed. 

‘It’s for ugly people,’ one person joked. 

‘Trend! You stick a bowl in the hood so snacks are closer when wearing,’ wrote another.

A third added it ‘was definitely not a mistake’, before saying it was a ‘just a popcorn hoodie’.

‘Could very well be a trend. My son likes to wear his older brothers jumpers inside out and backwards,’ said another.

One shopper said she’d noticed kids had been wearing their hoodies back to front lately, and wondered if it was a new style.

‘If there is a heap of them, maybe a new trend? God help us all,’ she joked.

‘If this is a trend, I’m giving up on humanity,’ another said, laughing.

A few chimed in saying they thought the detail was a brilliant idea as it had a range of potential uses like hiding things from the kids.
